Formatting selection

I can format a whole file with [pencil menu] -> Format. But if I select text and run the "Format Code" command nothing happens. Is it possible to format only the selected code?

The commit andrew222651@d1deb6f adds a new command to format a selection. I'm not sure how to use the built-in "Format Code".
