During a simple server stress test with Async enabled alongside several other performance mods, we noticed unexpectedly high item entity ticking cost and wanted to ask whether this is expected behavior, a possible Async issue, or potentially caused by interaction with another mod.
Spark report:
https://spark.lucko.me/aByzfqys2R
The report includes the installed mods, JVM arguments, server/runtime details, and other relevant environment information.
The main thing we noticed is that item entity ticking was reaching up to around 20% MSPT, even though the test only had roughly 1,000 item entities alive concurrently at peak. That seemed high to us, but we are not sure whether this is normal under these conditions.
We also noticed behavior that looked like something may have been blocking or stalling the main thread. This is visible in the Spark report, but we are not sure whether it is related to Async, expected behavior, or caused by a mod interaction.
This was not a crash and there are no crash logs. We are mainly looking for feedback on whether the profile shows anything concerning or unexpected.
Questions:
- Does the item entity ticking cost shown in the Spark report look expected for this kind of test?
- Is there anything in the profile that suggests Async is being blocked by another mod or system?
- Are there known incompatibilities or mod interactions that could cause this kind of behavior?
- Is there any additional profiling or testing that would help narrow this down?
Additional notes:
- Peak concurrently alive item entities: roughly 1,000
- Main observation: item entity ticking reached up to around 20% MSPT
- Secondary observation: possible main-thread blocking/stalling behavior
- Environment details, mod list, and JVM args are included in the Spark report
