Describe the issue

The SCPH-1080 controller (first PS1 controller, no sticks) still requires you to push the circle button to enter and cross to back out from menus, despite the text saying otherwise. You can replicate the issue by plugging one in and seeing for yourself.

That's a known issue. In PSBBN, the × and ○ button swap is only supported on DualShock 2 controllers:
