Turbopack integration

Now that Vercel has switched to using Turbopack, is it possible to get an equivalent to @datadog/webpack-plugin to run on Turbopack?

It really depends on what Vercel decides to support in term of plugins.
Right now, this doesn't seem to be on their roadmap, vercel/turborepo#8062
While the issue is marked as closed, there is no resolution to it.

Hmm.. they support postbuild scripts which is what we have been using for now to upgrade source maps. Is it possible to integrate similar functionality into a datadog-sourced package?

Interesting suggestion.
This is very far from being trivial though, and is not on our direct road map.

I'll keep the issue opened to gather interest.

If you're really stuck on this, an alternative would be to use Datadog CI to upload the sourcemaps in one of these hooks.

That's exactly what we ended up doing. We essentially copied Sentry's logic here: https://github.com/getsentry/sentry-javascript/blob/7f2aa3d41918e8bca7be7f7a3e7b0b0659d451e8/packages/nextjs/src/config/getBuildPluginOptions.ts#L174

It works, we have no problems with RUM (though it would be nice if we could un-minify Vercel serverless functions on the backend!!).

It just would be nice if this was maintained on DataDog's side. There's a lot of fragility here to make sure that source maps don't leak out... since you need to set productionBrowserSourceMaps, then strip out the .map files and all the sourceMappingURL comments.

So if we could get:

• Backend un-minification for vercel serverless functions (even better if we could capture full stack traces with variables)
• A plugin maintained on datadog's side that just calls Datadog CI on our behalf

We would be in a pretty good place!
