sub layer toggle

I can't seem to get the sub layer toggle functionality to work. I'm fairly new to the API, but have understood the configuration thus far. Do I have to add my own custom layers to achieve this or can I still just use the generated webmap ID? Cheers

@berg8228 There isn't anything special you have to do. If your web map has layers that has sub layers the layer list will automatically display them. Here's an example.

Thanks for the speedy reply. That example is exactly what I'm trying to do. It seems as though I'm not loading the layers properly into the AGOL web map. To get the layer groupings I desire, I've been zipping multiple shapefiles together prior to uploading to the web map from my desktop. The problem is however, I can only toggle of the entire group and not each individual layer in said grouping as occurs in your demo. Do they need to published as feature services? I'm still getting acquainted with AGOL so bear with me...Could you quickly your procedure to adding sub layers to the web map? Thanks so much in advance. Cheers,

@berg8228 I'll have to test this approach of zipping multiple shapefiles to create a hosted service with sub layers. It sounds like it should work but there could be an issue.
