Using Avalonia UI instead of Windows Forms?

Throwing this here as more of an idea and question to help with making the application cross-platform, if the project is open to the idea I could tinker with a fork and offer a merge back…

Avalonia UI provides easy and cross-platform UI on top of .NET, so that would allow MacOS, Linux and Windows builds without effort on a single codebase.

I've also heard good things about Avalonia UI, but it isn't wise to attempt a switch until the temporary pre-built executables are incorporated fully and removed, as discussed here. Once this issue is resolved, forking and adding compatibility to other operating systems would be more feasible.

I use Linux on my second machine, so I'm all for this. However this would probably have to wait until the e-Reader dev tools become integrated into the codebase rather than be external tools (which looks to be the reason why this is Windows exclusive).

I might try to give a crack at porting over to Avalonia UI or even Mono if/when I have time.
