Built with GLib 2.87.0
Built with S-Lang 2.3.3 with terminfo database
With builtin editor
With subshell support as default
With support for background operations
With mouse support on xterm and Linux console
With internationalization support
With multiple codepages support
With ext2fs attributes support
Virtual File Systems:
 cpiofs, tarfs, sfs, extfs, ftpfs, shell
Data types:
 char: 8; int: 32; long: 64; void *: 64; size_t: 64; off_t: 64; uintmax_t: 64;

Operating system

Fedora 44 (fully up to date)

Is this issue reproducible using the latest version of Midnight Commander?

  • I confirm the issue is still reproducible with the latest version of Midnight Commander

How to reproduce

Enter the archive:

stale.zip

(rename to 7z as 7z uploads are not supported here).

Expected behavior

MC entering the archive and showing its contents.

Actual behavior

ERROR: /tmp/stale.7z : Cannot open the file as archive

Additional context

Using:

7-Zip 25.01 (x64) : Copyright (c) 1999-2025 Igor Pavlov : 2025-08-03
 64-bit locale=en_US.UTF-8 Threads:16 OPEN_MAX:1024
