have static-linked nvidia-container-cli for easy distribution

Currently nvidia-container-cli links to libnvidia-container.so.1 and other shared libraries. And only deb/rpm packages are provided.

Is there any technical reason for not releasing static-linked nvidia-container-cli ?

There is no technical reason not to have this, and will likely include this in the next release.

FWIW, I build this binary without its shared library like this

$ make install BIN_LDLIBS='-l:$(LIB_STATIC) -lseccomp -lcap -ldl'

Seem to work OK.

Version 1.5.0 of libnvidia-container will distreibute a statically linked CLI. It's been the plan for a while, but the following bug has pushed the priority of doing this higher: NVIDIA/gpu-operator#72 (comment)
