Preflight Checklist
What type of Apple device is the feature request for?
iPhone
Describe the feature
Summary
Allow users to define and "lock" specific reader settings (Reading Direction, Scaling, Filter, etc.) at the Collection level. When a title is launched from a specific collection, the reader should automatically adopt that collection's preset overrides instead of the global defaults.
Proposed Solution
Add a "Reader Settings" toggle or menu within the Collection Edit/Settings screen.
Default behavior: Collections follow Global Settings.
Custom behavior: If "Enable Collection Overrides" is checked, the user can pre-set:
- Reading Direction: (LTR, RTL, Vertical, Webtoon)
- Display Mode: (Single page, Double page)
- Zoom/Scaling: (Fit to width, Fit to height)
Example
A user has a collection named "Manhwa." They set this collection's override to Vertical Reading. Even if their Global Setting is RTL, any book opened from the "Manhwa" collection will automatically launch in Vertical mode.
Feature Motivation
Currently, users who organize their library by format (e.g., a "Manga" collection for RTL, a "Webtoon" collection for Vertical, and a "Comics" collection for LTR) must either:
- Manually change settings every time they switch formats.
- Constantly toggle global defaults.
- This creates unnecessary friction and interrupts the reading flow.
