[Transparency] Why I'm adding a small ad banner to the web app πŸ“’Β #2

Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹

I want to be 100% transparent with this community. If you use the web version of this tool, you will notice a small ad banner at the bottom of the page. I want to take a moment to explain openly why I made this decision.

The Short Version ⏳

I'm a working student navigating a tough economic climate. I'm paying for my university studies out of pocket, and I'm just trying to cover my expenses while continuing to maintain and build free tools for the community.

The Real Life Stuff πŸ› οΈ

I love building open-source software and solving real problems for people. However, reality hits hard:

  • The cost of living and studying: Everything is getting more expensive, and my current salary simply doesn't match the reality of everyday expenses. On top of that, university tuition is a huge financial burden, especially when you are a working student and it takes a bit longer to graduate.
  • Zero donations: Over the years, despite thousands of users relying on my tools, the open-source "free-rider" effect is very real. Donations are incredibly rare.

Why A-Ads? (Privacy First) πŸ›‘οΈ

I despise invasive tracking. That's why I specifically chose A-Ads. They don't track you, they don't use shady cookies, and they respect your privacy. It's just a simple, static-ish banner that helps me monetize my traffic without selling your data to third parties.

The Code Remains 100% Open πŸ”“

This is crucial: the software remains completely free and open-source. If you are a developer and want to clone the repo, run it locally, or host it yourself without ads, you are totally free to do so!

But if you use my hosted GitHub Pages version to solve your problem in 2 minutes, leaving that banner visible is a huge way to support my coding efforts.

Thank you for reading, for understanding, and for using my tools! ❀️
