Describe the enhancement you want to request
Feature request
Add an in-app Appearance setting to the macOS desktop app (OpenCode.app) that lets users force Light, Dark, or System mode independently of the macOS global appearance.
Current behavior
OpenCode.app follows the macOS system appearance. The theme selector (Cmd+P → theme) only affects markdown/syntax rendering inside chat — not the app chrome (background, sidebar, panels).
Selecting a "dark" theme like Tokyo Night while macOS is in Light mode still leaves the app with a white background.
Desired behavior
A new Appearance section accessible via Cmd+, (Settings) or the command palette, with three options: Light · Dark · System (default).
Comparable apps that already do this:
Outlook for Mac (Preferences → General → Appearance)
Slack, VS Code, Chrome, Discord, etc.
Why
Many users prefer a dark UI for code/chat tools while keeping the rest of macOS in Light mode (system apps readability, design work, accessibility, personal preference). Forcing system-wide Dark mode is not a viable workaround.
Related (not duplicates)
#480 — sync with OS (complementary, would still be the "System" default)
#18397 — themes lacking a light variant (TUI-focused)
Thanks!
