getStoreData error for "stores"

a call to getStoreData("stores") returns an error:

Error in rbind(deparse.level, ...) : 
  numbers of columns of arguments do not match
In addition: Warning message:
In getForm(uri, curl = curlHandle) : No inputs passed to form
