ability to customize navigation icon

i'd like the ability to customize or remove the navigation icon, the paper icon in the corner of buttons ^^ for me personally it gets in the way and makes things look cluttered. i want to be able to change it or remove it altogether

How would you like to have it?

In general of course everything is possible, but the thing is that adding specific options for minor things like this, makes the app more complex. There are already many, many options and the more options, the more difficult it will become to use the app intuitively. So the best thing would be to change it to something which is better for everyone, clearer, less cluttering.

i understand that, but i still think it would be best to have a few default options (perhaps like TD Snap - none, navigation icon (an arrow), folder shape (would likely be more complicated to code, but that can be left out), and a corner tab) despite the fact that it would be another option to configure. ideally, you'd be able to set a default, and override the default for certain buttons.

i think it's better to have this option than it is to not have it because of concerns of clutter and clarity. it can help reduce clutter on one's board, having the proper navigation icons where needed and leaving them out where they're not needed.

an example of this is, say, a keyboard - in asterics grid, to make a keyboard grid, you'd have to make two pages, one for lowercase and uppercase. to emulate the shift key, the shift key would have to link from the lowercase board to the uppercase board, and then every button on the uppercase board would have to link back to the lowercase board as well as insert its letter.

even outside of that, sometimes the symbol on a button can be enough to indicate that it's a navigation button, or the user can just remember what it does, in which case having a navigation icon may be unnecessary. but in other situations, or for other users, the navigation icon may be necessary. the current one doesn't communicate the idea of navigating to another page to me, but it may to someone else, and probably does to the person who chose it.

i think, to keep it as accessible as possible, it should be customizable, even if that means adding another option to the menu. some icons work in some situations, others work better in other situations, soemtimes no icon at all is best

Hi, I also find this interesting. When I design a board, I often struggle to leave a navigation button clearly differentiated from a “regular” pictogram, since the indicator icon is barely noticeable, which ends up causing confusion.

I’ve tried several approaches, such as using darker colors or editing pictograms by adding outlines or borders, but none of them really work well visually.

A simple option might be to allow changing the icon and size that indicate a section, or to enable customizing a cell’s border (color, thickness, or rounding), in the same way the background color can already be customized. This would be a powerful tool to clearly differentiate and highlight sections.

this is what my caps lock keyboard grid looks like, for example. the navigation icons don't need to be there and are instead very distracting

for me i like coughdrop's visual corners for folder/linked buttons. i also use brown as a folder color but a colored corner would be visually very nice compared to the current folder icon
