General code clean-up #5
Description
Go through all the php files and clean up the code as much as possible.
Attempt to get code to be as PSR-12 compliant as possible.
This will include converting code to implement new features available in newer versions of php, such as type hinting in function definitions.
Properly format all php DocBlocks where possible, and increase commenting so that the code is more understandable to any one reading it.
