Multiple icons contain contours in wrong direction.

From TrueType Fundamentals:

The direction of the curves has to be such that, if the curve is followed in the direction of increasing point numbers, the black space (the filled area) will always be to the right.

Multiple icons break this convention. While most rasterizers will tolerate this out-of-spec behavior, sometimes (e.g., emboldening icons) this leads to artifacts. See uncharacteristically thin elements below.

That problem is probably happening because of the issue somewhere in the fantasticon tool conversion implementation that is used here for generating the final TTF font from SVGs. Not critical, as I don't think that darkening was ever meant to be applied to the icon fonts, but still incorrect indeed.

I have to agree with the svg3ttf author. The best place to fix this is in SVG files. You can now clearly see which contours need to be reversed. This needs to be done to clean up the font.

The icons were refreshed last month - can you retry your winding check?

It seems that some contours changed directions randomly: some for better, some for worse. For example "HR" used to be correct, now it's not.

@apodtele thanks for checking - do you have any recommendations on doing this within the SVG code itself? I want to be able to automate this in order to get consistent winding throughout the library

This might also be an issue with how Figma generates SVG code from design files - I will look into that.
