Integrated terminal freezes when pasting plain text copied from LibreOffice on Linux

After updating VS Code, the integrated terminal freezes when pasting text copied from LibreOffice.

The paste target in LibreOffice was plain text, but the issue still occurs.
If the text contains line breaks, the freeze is 100% reproducible.
If I paste the same content into Kate and copy it again, VS Code no longer freezes.
Some single-line text copied from LibreOffice can also trigger the issue.

This only happens in the integrated terminal, not necessarily in the editor.

After force-closing VS Code, KDE's crash reporter showed that VS Code generated a core dump.

I can reproduce this consistently. coredumpctl list code shows multiple crashes of /usr/share/code/code with SIGTRAP after reproducing the paste freeze. Most recent entries:

• Sat 2026-06-06 18:17:18 CST, PID 93965, SIGTRAP
• Sat 2026-06-06 18:18:18 CST, PID 131815, SIGTRAP
• Sat 2026-06-06 18:29:43 CST, PID 136724, SIGTRAP

So this is not just a UI hang; VS Code eventually dumps core.

There is no paste preview/confirmation. VS Code freezes immediately after pressing Ctrl+Shift+V in the integrated terminal.

I checked the clipboard types with wl-paste --list-types after copying the problematic text from LibreOffice. The clipboard contains multiple LibreOffice/rich text targets:

After copying the same text through Kate first, the issue usually disappears, which likely means Kate normalizes the clipboard to simpler plain text targets.

Low professionalism comment incoming. I have a similar issue on MacOS 26.5.1 M1 with VS Code 1.123.0 in the integrated terminal.

Copying >=1024 characters from the integrated zsh terminal, running a python program expecting input(), and then pasting it into said terminal causes the terminal to freeze.
Pasting 1023 characters (or fewer) does not trigger the freeze (I could press enter and my program ran successfully).
Pasting into the editor does not trigger the freeze.
Copying from an online lorem ipsum generator triggers/does not trigger the freeze under the same conditions.

Does this work with all extensions disabled? Yes
Do newlines affect anything? I didn't figure out a way to test this
1024? really? Yes, this is the exact breaking point (not including pressing enter)
This also happens in the integrated python terminal with extensions enabled.
What are your settings? No clue and I can't be bothered to try to learn which ones are relevant or how to find them.
