alternative to companion app

The companion app didn't launch on my Pixel 7a so I looked around for FOSS alternatives to back up SMS/MMS etc. and I found this:

It can export to local files which then can be included in the archive by the OA Backup script.
This app supports importing, so to me it looks like a better option to create a backup that can be fully restored.
