Forgive me if this is already a feature and I've not yet found it:

1. Can I (if not, this is a request) DEFINE my own keybindings?
2. Is it possible to have a utility that visually gives all keybindings, and when I attempt a new binding, detects conflicts and notifies me?

yes you can create your own bindings. He has videos on his YouTube channel. The short version is copy the keybindings config file and rename it. Then edit as you wish. In his settings app select that modified file as the default. Done

With right mouse click on apps you will get all keybinding.

For workspaces, can you provide a simple config method (so I don't have to do the research ;) ) for NAMED workspaces and the default apps that get launched into them? eg WS for email, WS for scanning docs, WS for coding, etc...?

This would allow me to create as many workspaces as I want, vs limited to 10 (can I already do this and I don't yet know?)

Maybe begin the process of consolidation to the various config file locations

You have ~/dotfiles ~/.ml4w ~/.config/ml4w etc...... don't always know where to go when configuring or troubleshooting

Really wishful thinking would be a wrapper around something like rclone to integrate OneDrive, dropbox, or GoogleDrive, etc to your GUI or waybar

Simpler one. Add more animation options. Recently Jakooklit added quite a few to his. I.e. from yours, END-4, etc You might want to look at those files and add them to yours.

Add support for Pyprland drop down terminals, etc.. I use drop down term very often. I can start a process in the drop down, then hide it, and recall it in any workspace. It loads at runtime so the recall is instant, and you don't have to create it first like you do with Hyprland special workspaces.

Then just need exec-once = pypr & in start up.

Pyprland offers quite a few features incl zoom, and 'expose` which shows an overview of running apps from all workspaces.

For those with very high res displays, 4K+ especially. GTK apps like Chrome, the tabs are often very small as they don't scale but default. the ENV variable env = GTK_SCALE,1 Can help here. You can increase the scale. Adding support for this either in the GUI or adding it as a default config option, that's easily changed, might help some users.

Wouldn't this be equivalent to the .../monitors/default.conf scale setting (1 vs 1.333333 vs 1.5 vs 2 etc)?

Not quite. That scales up the entire display. GTK_SCALE makes things like browser tabs larger. So you can still have your high res screen but apps themselves are small (Sorry didn't see reply)

If I tell you my wish it is

1. Battery notifier for laptop users like on 20% to charge and on 5% a countdown, even on full screen
2. A workspace switcher GUI like the AGS
3. Dock customisation like adjust length, position etc of dock from GUI
4. The sound and brightness indicator GUi

I am a noob at hyprland and these are just suggestions don't take it seriously thankyou what you have done is still beyond my expectations and our work is still exceptional.

I first want to thank you for all the work you and all contributing members have put in. It has genuinely made the process of getting into Linux quite fun and intriguing, this is coming from someone who knows next to nothing about Linux and coding. I am super excited to see how this project develops in the future!

As for suggestions and ideas:

1. I think there should be an easier process in switching default apps, Ive been unsuccessful in changing my default browser and default email app. This is through the settings app for context. I was thinking of maybe having a drop down option or separate window that displays a list of apps to chose from as a default.

2. Another suggestion I have is a better way of customizing sequoia sddm theme. Ive tried adjusting it through the Code - OSS app to no avail. I haven't seeked support as its not a major issue for me, but think there could be an easier method. Maybe something in the settings app or a separate app all together to customize the sddm theme.

3. I feel this is a big ask but I will make it a idea nonetheless but I do understand if this is out of the scope of things. I think it would be cool to have some kind of Wallpaper Engine(the steam application) integration or some alternative. I do know swww supports video and gif wallpapers but I miss the integrated browsing of community wallpapers that Wallpaper Engine has.

I think that's all I can think of at the moment. I'm very very happy with everything else! Thank you again team for all the work you have done!

e.g. I have two browsers installed but in discord the wrong one was used at the CLI I ran:

Hi there! Thanks for the reply, ahhh, I see. I was attempting to change it from Firefox to zen browser by changing the name in the settings app, but nothing worked.

Yes, I am trying to customize sdddm, i tried using code oss to customize as it layer everything out nicely. What i did was go into the theme conf under the seq theme and tried changing the welcome back text to something else.

After saving, no changes appeared.

Im currently doing a fresh install of arch + hyprland cz I messed some stuff up when trying other dot files. I may take a bit to respond if you get back to me.

Edit: tried your default browser and says invalid application name. Im assuming it has to do with the .desktop end because when i used flatpak list, zen browser is listed as app.zen_browser.zen

Ill try searching how to make a desktop version of this and see if I get anywhere.

Damn I'm stumped. I have a feeling it may have to do with permissions. I've tried through the text editor, and nothing changes after saving. I'm unsure of how to get around that.

Would you mind sharing the process you went through to change it?

Would you also know how to change the theme for sddm?

I used the option in ML4W to set SDDM. sudo nvim /usr/share/sddm/themes/sequoia/theme.conf Edited the moto. I used his tools to set the background I didn't do anything special

Quick idea I wanted to run by you. I was thinking about adding an AI helper sidebar. like a bar where users could select different AI providers: OpenAI, Deepseek, Gemini, and Ollama etc,,

The goal would be to let them pick which "AI assistant " powers things like code generation, explanation, documentation, etc. Basically, integrate their APIs and let people choose. I'm thinking AGS could be the best here for managing all the different settings you see what am talking about somehow in material for you and end-4 dotfiles

I know it's not easy each API is different, and managing API keys is a pain. I'm just wondering if you think this direction has potential for the next v3 or 3.5 who knows .

Something that allows me to easier specify how my screens are arranged.

I tried quite a bit to get it right via config files and also with I think it was called nwg-displays but that only allowed me to do it in one line, not have a display underneath the other.

thanks so much for your fantastic work and this marvellous project!

A few small quality-of-life suggestions:

The hardware and tools modules in Waybar can be a bit tricky to use with the instant toggle on hover. I worked around it with a small script that turns them into click-toggles so they stay open when needed. It would be great to have that behavior as a built-in option.

The nwg-dock has a nice -d option for auto-hide — maybe something similar could be added as a toggle in the ML4W sidebar app?

Not sure if I’m the only one using a dual-monitor setup on ML4W, but the workspace switcher can get a bit awkward in that configuration. The sidepad (which I really love!) could also use a little optimization for multi-monitor setups.

And by the way — the preview for the new theme looks really, really cool 👍

I run 2 4K 43" displays.
Until today, I had to hack putting workspaces 1-5 on HDMI-A-1, and 6-10 on DP-1, manually :(
So I found I could set those in monitors/default.conf... slow me.
This would be a nice kickstart for usability.

Future: named workspaces
(eg thunderbird could go in workspace "mail", thinkorswim could go in workspace "schwab", tradingview could... etc.)

What about hyprexpo ? with some custom configs

Hyprexpo doesn't allow moving apps to other workspaces. Also that requires using hyprland plugins. which over time have not worked well for me. Every new build of HL you have to update the plugins. And often the plugins were no longer compatible and had to way for them to be updated. Quickshell avoids that issue

I've been using Hyprland for 3+ years. plugins always break. :) If you go to the Hyprland Discord and in the Hyprland-Plugins channel you will see what I mean. Especially after HL releases. :) I suspect that's one reason ML4W never added plugins. But quickshell works amazing There are quite a few to chose from for Hyprland. I have been using Noctalia shell but Dank Material Shell is another good one that just released their 1.0 version. Quickshell is very fast, light and most work with more than just hyprland. So you aren't limited like Hyprland plugins are. I used Quickshell to create my own small apps as well. I.e. for parsing MD file to HTML for viewing/searching

Or for Keybinds for not just Hyprland but apps as well

So overall I think Quickshell is better option long term vs. plugins

Ok, that's kind of what I thought. Since I didn't recall seeing any code in modules to support that. I know there are several tools to gather that info. If you create a working setup, he will more likely adopt it. And support for Arch, Fedora, at least.

Very much hoping for NixOS support. I had asked many months ago in the comments of one of your videos, and I believe you said that it was something you'd like to do, so I've been periodically checking since then.

You don't need him for NixOS support. the dotfiles are available. A major problem with supporting NixOS is basically no two are configured the same. flakes, home manager, npins, hjem, configuration.nix, etc... Same issue for gentoo. If you have a working NixOS with hyprland then adding his dotfiles isn't very difficult. My issue was going through the files to find all the fonts and get them installed in NixOS.

I'd imagine he'd do it his recommended way, and we follow or not. If I'm implementing ML4W, chances are I'm doing it from scratch, so there is no other configuration.

If you have already created such rules then create a merge request. That will make it much easier for him to include such things. Otherwise he has to install Thunderbird, configure, etc to get the proper names/class.

Wanted Behaviour: some Setting where i do not have to always press enter. This would be a small Time Saver.

Are you referring to annotating the screenshot after it's taken? Pinta is not the correct tool for that. I think It should be changed to something else that has annotation tools built in.
