minor #6805 Remove colloquialism "hold on" (micheal)

This PR was submitted for the 3.1 branch but it was merged into the 2.7 branch instead (closes #6805). Discussion ---------- Remove colloquialism "hold on" I'm of the thought that documentation should balance between conversational grammar and formal grammar.
