Is wp async a good fit

Wondering if wp async is right choice. I have a plugin that fetches data initiated by user, from external source, I take array of records and create custom post ty

Type, it can take 10-15 minutes as it processes images, and admin. Page stays blank for most of the process before results start to echo on screen, so I thought run it as background process, so the user can navigate elsewhere do other stuff then flash a fetch complete notice on whatever admin screen that happen to be on , would this wp async fit the functionality I'm after? Any insight appreciated

Okay reading through other issues. , I have to admit didn't understand yet how wp async works, reading a bit more I'm thinking I would add an action to my plugin to hook on to with wp async ,
Would I add an action for th function that kicks off my data fetch and hook onto it with wp async?

OKay I made a class that extends WP_Async_Task call it class fetch_async_task
in my plugin admin class _construct I include wp-async-task.php and my fetch class that extends it
my admin class has an admin page which has a link on it that fires a function in the admin class, in that function I instantiate fetch_async_task which I can cinform works and right after I added add_action( 'wp_async_manual_fetch', array($this, 'manual_fetch_mls_listings' ), 10, 1);
but it doesn't work after that... manual_fetch_mls_listings just includes a script I wan to run asynchronously ..... should I include the admin class code and the fetch_async_task here in a comment to see if I can get help?
