New

Custom completion sounds (#858) — upload your own short clips and pick one per chore, instead of choosing from the built-in set. Admin panel → Settings → Completion sounds → Upload sound. MP3, OGG, WAV or M4A, up to 1 MB each; then pick the sound on any chore in its editor. Built-in sounds are unchanged and remain the default.

Time-locked rewards (#861) — restrict a reward to certain days, certain hours, or both, so "Friday film night" can only be claimed on a Friday evening. Edit a reward → enable the time lock → choose the days and/or the window. An overnight window (for example 19:00–01:00) is supported. Rewards outside their window show as locked on the card and are refused if claimed anyway. Leave the lock off and nothing changes.

• The icon field in the admin panel now matches the panel's own inputs instead of Home Assistant's default Material shell (fix(panel): make the icon field match the panel's own inputs #862).

• An internal hardening and validation pass across the integration, the admin panel and CI (Internal hardening and validation pass #863). This tightens permission and input handling in a number of places, adds validation of restored backups and shared template packs, and brings a few upload and serving paths in line with each other. There is one new optional setting, Require a linked account per child (Settings → Parents), which is off by default — with it off, behaviour is unchanged from v5.5.0. Turn it on only if every child has their own Home Assistant login; on a shared family tablet, leave it off.

Upgrading

No action required and no configuration changes are needed. Update through HACS and restart Home Assistant. Card resources are re-registered automatically at the new version, so a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) clears any stale card JavaScript.
