Move work between chat and tasks: suggest it, or say the word

Chat and tasks should work together: you keep chatting and doing several things at once, while tasks run the large pieces of work in parallel in the background. Two parts of that are missing today.

1. Chat offers to make it a task

When a request looks like a big job — many files, long-running, able to run on its own — CodeAF should offer: run this as a task and keep chatting? It offers, you decide. It never switches on its own, and small requests should not trigger it.

2. Turn the conversation you are in into a task

Sometimes a chat becomes big work halfway through. One action should hand the conversation to a task that carries on in the background, with the context it already has, and give you chat back straight away. You can open the task to follow along or keep talking to it.

• What makes a request task-sized, and how we keep wrong offers rare
• Whether the whole conversation moves, or only from a chosen message onward
• Whether a task stays conversational (you can steer it) or runs on its own until it is done
• How many tasks run at once, and how you see them and get results back in chat
