What is CyberClock?

CyberClock is a feature-rich desktop clock for Windows that brings everyday timekeeping, productivity tools, and moments of relaxation into one polished interface. It combines analog and digital clocks, a full calendar, countdown timer, precision stopwatch, alarms, compact Mini Mode, and independent floating time tools. A wellness module adds procedurally generated ambient soundscapes and guided breathing, while local customization lets the experience adapt to your desktop. Built with Tauri v2 and Rust.

Free and open source: no ads, no tracking, and no data collection. Just enjoy it.

πŸ• Why CyberClock?

Most clock apps show you the time and nothing more. CyberClock transforms your desktop into a productivity and wellness hub: Sleek timekeeping, precision tools for work and study, and a relaxation module to unwind. All wrapped in a lightweight, native-performance Tauri app.

Need Solution

Save screen space Mini mode β€” compact always-on-top clock bar with 15 unique skins
Make it yours 10 accent tints, text size scale, CRT scanlines, transparency controls, multi-monitor

✨ Key Features

πŸ• Clock & Calendar

  • Analog Clock β€” Canvas-rendered with smooth animations and neon accents; can be hidden in full mode to give the calendar the whole width
  • Ten Dial Designs: Classic, Minimal, Segments, HUD, Quantum, Chrono, Hex Matrix, Reactor Core, Circuit PCB, and the multicolor Gem Crown dial
  • Digital Display β€” Space Grotesk font with fixed-width digit cells (12H / 24H)
  • Full Calendar β€” Month view with agenda, day notes, and statistics
  • Date Intelligence β€” Day of year, ISO week, days remaining, moon phase
  • Day Notes β€” Attach notes to specific dates with an editor modal
  • Floating Calendar Widget β€” Standalone compact desktop calendar with 10 cyberpunk/neon skins, daily auto-rotation, date picker popover, quick note peeks, multi-month navigation, and dedicated context menu
  • Floating Analog Clock Widget β€” Desktop floating analog clock with customizable dial designs, always-on-top, and taskbar visibility

⏱️ Timer & Stopwatch

  • Countdown Timer β€” Large digital display with milliseconds, preset buttons, visual progress bar, and warning state
  • Stopwatch β€” Precision timing with lap tracking, delta vs average, best/worst lap highlighting, and clipboard export
  • Floating Desktop Widgets β€” Open independent compact timer and stopwatch windows with multi-slot support; widgets are remembered and restored across application restarts
  • Independent Skins & Renaming β€” Choose distinct skins per widget type (Mini Clock, Timer, Stopwatch) and customize widget titles
  • Cross-Widget Launching β€” Easily spawn timers, stopwatches, analog clocks, calendars, or a relax session from any active widget's context menu
  • Floating Timer Presets β€” Add 30s, 1m, 5m, 10m, or 15m to the armed duration without starting the countdown (can be hidden via context menu)
  • Resting Digits & Enlarged Display β€” Enhanced counter digits across all skins, with resting all-zero state dimmed until armed

🧘 Relaxation Module

  • 6 Ambient Soundscapes β€” Night, Forest, Outer Space, Ocean, Rain, Fireplace
  • Procedural Audio Synthesis β€” Web Audio API generated sounds with real audio file fallback
  • True Pause β€” Pause freezes the audio, session timer, breathing pacer and tips cycle in place; resume continues exactly where you left off (Space toggles play/pause)
  • Ambient Blending β€” Ctrl+Click any track card to layer it over the playing one (Rain + Fireplace, Ocean + Space…); layers fade in and out independently
  • Zen Flow Shuffle β€” One-click shuffled playback through all tracks
  • Gentle Auto-Stop β€” The auto-stop timer fades audio out smoothly over the final minute
  • Audio Spectrum Visualizer β€” Real-time frequency visualization
  • Breathing Patterns β€” Box breathing (4-4-4-4) and 4-7-8 technique
  • Floating Relax Widget β€” Compact desktop session with the track name, play and next, a breathing ring, a small spectrum, and 10 designs. Audio keeps playing when full mode is hidden
  • Session Timer β€” With mindfulness tips and auto-stop (15m, 30m, 1h, 2h)
  • Auto Scheduler β€” Schedule automatic playback times
  • Mute Awareness β€” A quiet banner with a one-click Enable button if global audio is muted

πŸ“Œ Mini Mode

  • 15 Unique Skins β€” Distinct designs for the compact clock bar, each with its own dimensions and optional zoom (0.5×–4Γ—)
  • Skin-aware Floating Tools β€” Floating timer and stopwatch windows reuse selected designs with layouts sized for their controls
  • Transparency Controls β€” Background and content opacity sliders
  • Always on Top β€” Keep the clock visible over other windows
  • Position Lock β€” Contextual position lock per widget (Mini Clock, Timers, Stopwatches, Analog Clock, Calendar, Relax)
  • Auto-Fade (Inactivity Dimming) β€” Optional idle fading (70%, 50%, 30%, 15%) that restores full opacity instantly on hover
  • Show Date β€” On by default. Off hides the date and shortens the bar; both return on hover. Compact (2 Rows) stays unavailable while Show Date is off.
  • Day Progress β€” Optional line on the bottom edge of the mini bar. Hover shows how much of the day has passed, as a percentage.
  • CRT Scanlines β€” Retro overlay effect
  • Click-Through β€” Let mouse events pass through the mini clock and floating widgets (toggled from the tray menu or Settings)
  • Real Sun Cycle β€” The Sunset Pulse skin follows the actual sun position

πŸ”” Alarms & Chimes

  • Voice Time Announcer (Talking Clock) β€” Speaks the time once at :15, :30, or :00, with selectable Windows voices, a customizable style (Natural, Cyber/Tactical, Concise), an optional soft pre-chime, quiet hours, and a shortcut to install Windows voices
  • Hourly Chimes & Alerts β€” Quarter-hour (:15, :30, :45), half-hour (:30), and full-hour (:00) chimes with dedicated volume control, instant sound test previews, and quiet hours silence window
  • Dedicated Chimes Volume β€” Independent volume slider for hourly chimes and interval alerts, preserving master alarm volume
  • 6 Built-In Chime Sounds β€” Crystal Bell, Soft Chime, Neon Arp, Zen Gong, Aurora, and Music Box for hourly chimes
  • Custom Chime Support β€” Load your own audio file for an hourly chime interval
  • Schedule Window β€” Silence chimes during specific hours
  • Alarms β€” An Alarms view with presets, cards, and a designer. Schedules are once, every day, weekdays, weekends, or selected days. New alarms start on No sound, with twenty synthesized tones or your own MP3 or WAV. Snooze shows its delay, and a firing alarm takes over the window. Delete after the alarm removes it when you dismiss the notice. Clone copies an alarm, and templates save a setup without scheduling it

πŸ–₯️ Desktop Integration

  • System Tray β€” Custom HTML popup menu with drill-down sliding navigation, anchored flush to the tray icon (with vertical-taskbar support) and carrying a full Help submenu, including a shortcut to the Windows date and time dialog. A left click brings the clock forward and never hides it. The menu states whether it is on screen, and lists Full Mode and Mini Mode together with the current one marked. New Alarm opens the designer in Full Mode
  • Flexible Window Close β€” Configurable close behavior (minimize to tray, switch to Mini Mode, or quit) with first-close confirmation dialog, direct close button, and backdrop dismissal
  • Global Hotkey β€” Show/hide the clock from anywhere (Alt+Shift+C by default; record your own combination or disable it in Settings)
  • Automatic Monitor β€” Full mode opens on the monitor where the mouse is (CyberLauncher style), or lock it to a preferred display
  • Work-Area Full Mode β€” Full mode fills the selected display's work area and stays locked there: taskbars docked on any edge are respected, and dragging or double-click maximize/restore can't break the layout
  • Clock Accuracy Guard β€” Periodic NTP drift check shown in Settings, with a Windows notification when the system time is off by more than a minute
  • Multi-Monitor Support β€” Choose which display CyberClock appears on; display changes are detected and the window repositions itself
  • Auto-Start with Windows β€” Registry-based startup, offered as an option right in the installer and kept in sync with the Settings toggle (the app reconciles the two at every boot)
  • Auto-Updates β€” Built-in Tauri updater with GitHub Releases and in-app bilingual release notes
  • Bilingual UI β€” Full English and Spanish interface
  • Backup & Data β€” Export all settings, alarms, notes, and timers as JSON; import previous backups; open the local data folder; or factory-reset to defaults, all from a dedicated settings tab
  • Accessible About Window β€” Suite-standard About with links, donate options, suite app showcase, check-for-update, and an "About..." entry in all floating widget and mini mode context menus. Each of those menus opens with the widget name and CyberClock
  • Personal Welcome β€” Optional display name adds a time-aware greeting beside the CyberClock brand when Full Mode opens

πŸš€ Getting Started

Install (Recommended)

  1. Download the latest installer from Releases
  2. Run the .exe installer and follow the setup wizard (it offers to start CyberClock with Windows)
  3. Launch CyberClock. No other requirements needed: you do not need Node.js, Rust, or any developer tool

Portable Version

  • Download CyberClock_<version>_x64-portable.zip from the latest release
  • Extract it to any folder and run CyberClock.exe
  • Settings and imported alarm sounds are stored in a data/ folder beside the executable; portable copies are updated by downloading the next ZIP from the release page

πŸ›‘οΈ Windows SmartScreen

Windows may show a SmartScreen warning the first time you run the CyberClock installer: this is an unsigned hobby app, so Windows hasn't built reputation for the file yet. This is expected; the source is public so you can inspect exactly what it does.

To continue:

See how to run the installer (step by step)

Windows shows this warning for any installer without a paid code-signing certificate; it does not mean the file is unsafe. Do not click "Don't run":

  1. Run the installer. Windows may show the blue "Windows protected your PC" dialog.

Windows SmartScreen warning

  1. Click the small More info link.

SmartScreen dialog after More info

  1. Click Run anyway. The installer starts normally.

You can verify the file independently: compare the SHA with the GitHub release, scan it on VirusTotal, or build from source. More details: SmartScreen guide on the website.

Multi-Window Architecture

The app uses 5 fixed Tauri windows, plus independently spawned floating timer and stopwatch windows:

Window Purpose Size
main Full application (clock, calendar, timer, stopwatch, relax) 1024Γ—768
mini Compact clock bar Skin-specific dimensions
menu Context menu for mini mode 270Γ—560
tray_menu System tray popup 290Γ—510
about About window 740Γ—590
float-* Independent timer or stopwatch Responsive per skin

Communication between frontend and backend uses Tauri commands (invoke()) and events (emit()). Settings updates broadcast via settings:updated event across all windows.

Building from Source (Developers)

Only needed if you want to work on CyberClock or build it yourself; regular users can skip this section.

Prerequisites

Development

npm install
npm run dev

Build for Production

npm run build

The built executable is CyberClock.exe and the NSIS installer lands in src-tauri/target/release/bundle/nsis/.

🎨 Themes & Customization

10 Accent Tints

One sober structural palette β€” deep navy surfaces, neutral text β€” with color entering only through the accent: glows, borders, highlights and a subtle ambient kiss on the panels. The interface never floods with color.

  • Ice (default) β€” pale ice over deep navy
  • Cyan β€” quiet tropical cyan
  • Azure β€” muted cornflower blue
  • Mint β€” soft spearmint green
  • Sage β€” gentle sage green
  • Gold β€” soft candlelight gold
  • Amber β€” warm sandy amber
  • Coral β€” muted coral
  • Rose β€” dusty pink
  • Violet β€” powdery lavender

Tints are derived from a single seed color (normalized to a shared luminance/saturation band) by src/shared/tint.js, so every preset stays readable and no accent can wash out the interface. Settings saved with the old 5-skin themes migrate automatically to their heir tint.

Display Options

  • Time format: 12H / 24H
  • Show/hide seconds
  • CRT scanlines overlay
  • Mini mode: background opacity, content opacity
  • Welcome greeting: optional display name shown beside the brand in Full Mode
