💡 What

Added visible on-screen instructions for keyboard controls and ARIA attributes for the score display in the Mario game.

🎯 Why

New players had no immediate way of knowing how to jump without trial and error. Additionally, visually impaired users relying on screen readers wouldn't receive real-time updates as their score increased. This small change addresses both issues, making the widget more intuitive and accessible.

📸 Before/After

(Verified locally: Text "Press Space or ↑ to jump" appears below the score.)

♿ Accessibility

  • Added aria-live="polite" and aria-atomic="true" to the #score element to ensure screen readers announce score changes naturally.
  • Ensured instructional text is styled adequately using existing color patterns.
