Record As Is

Captures whatever is currently playing out of your speakers - a call, a video, a game, anything - straight to a WAV file, with no virtual cable or routing software to install. It taps the audio the same way Windows itself does (WASAPI loopback on the default playback device), so it hears exactly what you hear. Press record, press stop, and it saves a timestamped file to the folder you choose.

Download

Get the latest build from the Releases page.

Windows 64-bit. No installer - it's a single executable, run it where you like.

Verifying the download

This is a personal project and the executable isn't code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen will warn you the first time you run it. You can check the file is exactly the one published here:

  • SHA-256 (v1.0.0.0): 509ddbb14c0c9ac8e2b1cefc10586cd041fbfe8d3ffa695275a28ac77a7f17fc

In PowerShell:

Get-FileHash .\record-as-is-1.0.0.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256
