Before: the live Playwright suite had no coverage for notification sinks, users and roles, role bindings, backup and restore, or mod registries. Those flows were only tested against mocks.

After: five new live specs run in e2e web live against the real API. Each one checks that its change survives a reload and hits one real-API error path. Before Playwright starts, the live job warms the restic repo with a new TestE2E_ResticRepoReady test.

How: this covers Spec 013 US2 (T037–T043).

  • TestE2E_ResticRepoReady is registered in bucket_operator and also runs as a step after "bootstrap admin" in the live job.
  • _seed.ts gains user, role, backup-destination and cleanup helpers.
  • users-and-roles and role-bindings each add exactly one extra login, from a fresh context.
  • No spec uses page.route or msw.

Five places where the code differs from the task text. Each is noted in a comment in its spec:

  • admin-notifications: a sink's URL can't be edited or read back, so the edit step toggles the enabled switch instead. The API accepts 169.254.169.254 on save and blocks it only at delivery, so the error path asserts the inline SSRF result after "Send test".
  • users-and-roles: a role change on a deleted user returns 500, not 404. The 404 ("user not found") comes from adding a namespace grant, so that is the error path.
  • role-bindings: the forbidden page is drawn client-side, so the spec also makes one API call from the restricted session to show the real 403.
  • backup-restore: the success phase is "Succeeded", not "Completed". Restoring onto a deleted server shows no toast; it shows as a Failed restore with "target server … not found".
  • mod-registries: there are three fixed providers, and a duplicate returns 422. The 409 comes from an unmanaged Secret with the provider's name, so that is the error path.

T044 (login count, duration, flipping G-07 to G-11) follows after the first green live run.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Testing
    • Expanded live end-to-end coverage for notification settings, user and role management, access controls, backup and restore workflows, and mod registry configuration.
    • Added checks for persisted settings, access-denied behavior, blocked webhook destinations, and failed restore outcomes.
    • Improved backup test readiness by confirming the backup repository is available before browser tests run.
  • Documentation
    • Updated the coverage summary to reflect newly closed test gaps.

…specs

Spec 013 T037/T038: the operator bucket and the e2e-web-live job both
call ensureResticRepo and assert the warm-up Job succeeded, so the live
backup spec starts against a ready restic repo.

Spec 013 T039-T043: five live Playwright specs, each with a reload
persistence check and a real-API error path, plus the _seed.ts helpers
they need (users, roles, backup destination, cleanup).

Walkthrough

The pull request adds live Playwright coverage for admin settings, user and role access, and backup/restore. It adds shared API seeding and cleanup helpers, a Restic readiness check in the live CI job, and updates coverage records for completed tests.

Changes

Live E2E coverage

Live tests check notification sink persistence and delivery blocking, and Nexus Mods registry configuration and Secret conflicts. The task notes record the observed scenarios.
User and role access coverage
web/e2e/specs/live/users-and-roles.spec.ts, web/e2e/specs/live/role-bindings.spec.ts, specs/013-expand-test-coverage/tasks.md
Live tests check user role changes, custom role bindings, and dashboard and API access results. The task notes record the observed responses.

The first live run showed three selector problems: the sink switch and
the permission checkbox inputs sit under HeroUI's decorative spans, so
pointer clicks were intercepted (toggle with Space / check with force,
as theme-customization and servers-core do), and a successful user save
already closes the Edit dialog, so there is no Cancel to click.

role-bindings seeds its user through the API after the Users list has
loaded, so reload before looking for it. backup-restore has two restore
rows for the same server (the happy path's Succeeded one first), so
match the Failed row instead of the first row.

e2e web live / amd64 failed on 367e53c. The new live specs from this PR all passed. The three failures are all in the existing share-links.spec.ts (lines 190, 207 and 229), which this PR does not touch.

Cause, from the Playwright error context: openCreateDialog clicks getByRole('main').getByRole('button', { name: 'Create link' }). When the server has no links, ShareLinks.tsx renders two buttons with that name, one in the header (line 551) and one in the empty state (line 570). Playwright's strict mode then fails the click. Whether the list is empty when those tests run depends on test order, which is why the same spec passed in this PR's earlier arm64 runs.

The fix would be a one-line selector change in share-links.spec.ts. That file is an existing test, so I've asked the maintainer to sign off before I change it. I'll re-run the job once after the run finishes.

Tick T037-T039 and T041-T043, rewording T039, T041, T042 and T043 to the
current behaviour valgul approved on the cards (2026-10-14). Close G-07,
G-09, G-10 and G-11 with the green live run; G-08 stays in progress until
the deleted-user role 404 fix lands and T040 asserts it.

With #699 merged, changing a deleted user's role returns 404 "user not
found". The error path now changes the role in the Edit dialog and asserts
the inline alert, as T040 specifies, instead of using the namespace-grant
404. Tick T040.

build e2e images (amd64) on run 38649266488 was cancelled at its 15-minute timeout-minutes (it ran 15m24s), so the amd64 e2e jobs were skipped. This PR doesn't touch any image build (web specs, spec docs, one e2e Go helper and a CI step that runs after the build). The same timeout hit #695 and #696 today; the job takes 12 to 15 minutes under load. arm64, including the live job, is green. I'm re-running the failed jobs once.

G-08 closes on live run 38649266488, where the users spec asserts the
role-change 404 from #699. T044 is done: typecheck:e2e passes and the
login count and duration are recorded. Summary recounted to 15/24 closed.

The server was Running before the backup, so not returning to Running
after a successful restore is a regression. Assert it instead of
skipping, so the marker-file check always runs (CodeRabbit review).
