The retained @vitejs/plugin-react range resolves to 4.7.0, whose peer dependency explicitly supports only Vite 4–7 (package-lock.json lines 1107–1125). Pairing it with Vite 8 causes npm to emit an ERESOLVE overriding peer dependency warning and leaves every build using an unsupported plugin/toolchain combination. Upgrade the React plugin to a release supporting Vite 8, or keep Vite within the existing peer range.

Vite 8 requires Node ^20.19.0 || >=22.12.0 (package-lock.json lines 3571–3572), while this repository still documents Node v20+ as supported. Developers or cached deployment environments on Node 20.0–20.18 or 22.0–22.11 will therefore install an unsupported engine and cannot reliably run the dev server or build. Update the declared/documented runtime requirement and deployment images, or avoid this major upgrade.
