What & why

TechEngineBot acts as the final reviewer on important PRs: it leaves one comment summarising the validator/test results and the ES records the PR adds, modifies, or removes. The comment is edited in place on every push, never duplicated.

  • Triggers: release PRs into main, and any PR labeled final-check (drafts are skipped).
  • Posts with the TECHENGINEBOT_TOKEN secret only — never a personal token. Without the secret the job still runs and skips the comment.
  • The job fails when validation or tests fail.

Setup

Add a TechEngineBot token (public_repo or fine-grained "Pull requests: write" on this repo) as the repo secret TECHENGINEBOT_TOKEN.

Checklist

  • python -m app.validate passes locally
  • No data changes

Release PRs into main and PRs labeled final-check get a single comment
from TechEngineBot with validator/test results and the records touched.
The comment is edited in place on each push. Posting needs the
TECHENGINEBOT_TOKEN secret; without it the job skips the comment.

Without pipefail a failed gh api call in the lookup pipeline left its
error body in $id, and the step then sent it to PATCH as a comment id.
