fix(cli): re-derive count-linear projections after Count changes - #2206
Conversation
ApplyInstanceLimit, ApplyCountOverride and the duplicate-RI dedupe changed Count and rescaled the money fields but left ProjectedCoverage and ProjectedUtilization at the values target-coverage sizing wrote for the old Count (target-coverage 80, Count 100 capped to 10 still reported 80% coverage; the correct figure is 8%). The Redshift NumberOfNodes mirrored from Count at parse also stayed stale after any sizing or cap. Add refreshCountLinear (mirrors the shared sizer's projection formulas, zero projections stay zero, Savings Plans and rows without a finite positive usage signal are untouched, RDS ProjectedCoverage is a family aggregate and is left alone) and syncDataWarehouseNodes (copy-on-write, only when the provider mirrors Count), wire them into the three Count-changing paths and the three shared-sizing wrappers. resizeAfterExclusion is not wired: it runs before sizing, when the projections are still zero. syncDataWarehouseNodes rewrote NumberOfNodes on any rec carrying DataWarehouseDetails, but only the AWS Redshift parser mirrors Count into that field; other users of the type keep their own value. Gate the sync on the Redshift service. The NumberOfNodes > 0 guard is dropped: the service check covers the Azure case it existed for. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Addressed the CodeRabbit finding in b4ecbcc (node sync restricted to Redshift; non-Redshift NumberOfNodes preserved, probe-verified). @coderabbitai review |

Author-side review record (not the merge gate): independent non-author reviewer (sonnet, high) reviewed the CodeRabbit fix delta 4f54558..b4ecbcc and found no actionable findings at b4ecbcc. The Redshift-only gate is mutation-probed (removing it fails TestSyncDataWarehouseNodes); dropping the NumberOfNodes>0 guard is safe because Azure synapse uses ServiceDataWarehouse and CSV-loaded rows carry no Details. |

Summary
--max-instances,--count-overrideand the duplicate-RI dedupe changeCountafter target-coverage sizing, butProjectedCoverage/ProjectedUtilizationkept the values computed for the oldCount. Example:--target-coverage 80sized a row to 100 instances, the cap cut it to 10, and the report still claimed 80% coverage (correct: 8%). The RedshiftNumberOfNodesmirror ofCountalso went stale after any sizing or cap.refreshCountLinearre-derives both projections from the newCount, mirroring the shared sizer's formulas (recfilter/sizing.go:351-358): utilizationmin(100, avg/n*100), coveragemin(100, ExistingCoveragePct + n/avg*100).avg <= 0, NaN, ±Inf).ExistingCoverageKnown.ProjectedCoverageis a family-NU aggregate, so it is left alone; RDS utilization is refreshed.syncDataWarehouseNodeskeepsNumberOfNodes(and the AWSClusterType) in step withCount. It copies the details instead of writing through the shared pointer, and only acts when the provider mirrorsCount(Azure Synapse leaves it 0).ApplyInstanceLimit,ApplyCountOverride,checkDuplicates,adjustRecsForDuplicates, and the node sync around the three shared sizing wrappers.resizeAfterExclusionis deliberately not wired: it runs before sizing, when the projections are still zero.Evidence (fixture-based unit tests; no real account calls)

ProjectedCoverage(the family aggregate) can still be stale after a cap or dedupe. Recomputing it needs the family-NU pool, which only the shared sizer has. The shared module'sScaleRecommendationCostsdoc comment still says "tracked by #1845" and needs a follow-up edit in cloud-commitments-go.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
