registry badges alongside the existing tests, license, and docs.rs badges; note
that the docs.rs and package registry badges become available only after the
first release.
Review comments at @crates/connetto-peer/src/frame.rs:
- Line 71: Update read_frame’s EOF handling so it returns clean EOF only when no
header byte has been read; map EOF after any header or body byte to
FrameError::Malformed rather than FrameError::Io.
Review comments at @crates/connetto-peer/src/link.rs:
- Around line 32-38: Make the frame reader in the link loop cancel-safe: the
current `read_frame` future is dropped when another `tokio::select!` branch
wins, losing partially consumed frame bytes. Preserve reader state across
iterations by using a dedicated reader task that sends complete frames over a
channel or a persistent cancel-safe framed reader, while keeping the byte stream
aligned on frame boundaries.
Review comments at @crates/connetto-peer/src/node.rs:
- Around line 785-788: Update Node::register_link to report when serving is
false, and have Node::link convert that outcome into a typed LinkError rather
than returning Ok(peer). In serve, assign identity and own_key only after bind
succeeds; in stop, clear identity so later link calls fail with
LinkError::NotServing.
- Around line 167-173: Replace the racy strong-count check in Node::drop with
teardown owned by a dedicated token stored in the shared Arc, so its Drop runs
exactly once when the last Node handle releases it. Have that token close the
listener and links through the existing stop logic, and remove the
check-then-act teardown from Node::drop.
Review comments at @crates/connetto-peer/src/tests.rs:
- Line 389: Remove the `// --- Proof N ---` banner comments from the tests in
`tests.rs`; preserve the proof numbering by moving each number into its
corresponding test’s doc comment.
Review comments at @plans/master-implementation-plan.md:
- Line 276: Make the R76 blocker statements consistent: update the phase blocker
line associated with R76 and the “Slices” status table, correcting whichever
statement is inaccurate so both reflect whether R74 blocks any slice.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Make the R76 blocker statements agree.
The normative status table says slices 1–7 are blocked on nothing. Line 5284 still says R76 is blocked on R74. Update the phase blocker line, or correct the table if R74 still blocks a slice. The plan requires these statements to agree.

@coderabbitai This is fixed in #133 (3d9f091), where R76's section now scopes its blockers to the slices. This branch is stacked on #133's earlier head and picks the line up when it is rebased after #133 merges.

@LucaCappelletti94 Understood. No separate edit is needed in #134. The correction from #133 (3d9f091) will arrive with the rebase. This finding remains open until then.

This is the first slice of R76. It adds a new crate,
connetto-peer, that lets two devices holding R74 certificates open a mutual TLS 1.3 link and keep it alive, with no server involved. Each side presents its leaf and issuer and signs through its device key. Each side checks the other against the deployment roots, the revocation lists it keeps, the five-minute clock tolerance, its accepted attestation levels, and a key other than its own. Once linked, the two exchange the lists the other lacks, ping every 15 seconds, and drop a link that stays silent for 45 seconds. When two devices dial each other at once they keep the same single link without reporting a false unlink. A list kept later is forwarded to every link that lacks it and closes every link it revokes.The crate stands alone and knows nothing of the replica. Wiring it into the client is the next slice. The eleven loopback tests mint their certificates in process and carry R74's proof 4, issuer rotation and a root-signed list revoking an issuer, and proof 6's refusal with a clock outside the window. The branch sits on the R76 slicing PR (#133), whose two plan commits it shows until that one merges. Its own plan edit records the dial counter and
Closeframe behind decision 7 and marks the slice built.Devices with R74 certificates had no way to establish trusted links directly without a server. The new
connetto-peercrate provides mutual TLS 1.3 links and checks peer certificates, attestation levels, clock tolerance, and locally held revocation lists.The links exchange revocation lists, monitor liveness, and resolve simultaneous dialing to one link. Client integration remains outside this slice.
