Filter matching lines from large document in a new tab, then edit them with full editor features, and automatically apply changes back to the original text. Supports nested result tabs, regex, searching within selection, color customization.
Open Find → subLiNe edit → Search / Edit Matching Lines… or press Ctrl+Alt+F. Enter a literal string or enable regex. Case Sensitive defaults to off. Whole Word and In Selection can be combined with the other toggles. In Selection searches complete lines touched by a nonempty selection.
Whole Word applies boundaries internally in literal and regex mode; toggling
it never inserts or removes text from the search field. Ignore case uses the
regex engine's flag, without displaying /i. Regex syntax you type is preserved.
Searches operate one line at a time, so patterns cannot match across newlines.
Press Enter or Find to open matching lines in a new tab. Count counts matches without opening results. Matches use the current color scheme; settings can override their appearance. Edited lines receive a gutter indicator.
Edit result lines without adding, deleting, or reordering rows. Press Ctrl+Enter or run Apply Changes to update their mapped source lines and leave result tabs open. A confirmation reports the number of changed lines and destination tab. Source line counts must match the search snapshot; unsaved source changes produce a warning. Applying changes updates buffers; save source files using Sublime's normal Save. Closing a result with unapplied edits prompts to apply, discard, or cancel.
A result tab can itself be searched. Its child maps to that result tab, rather than directly to the original document. Applying a chain processes deepest children first, updates their immediate parents, and then propagates those changes to the selected source.
For example, search the source for error, then search those results for
timeout. Edits in the second result update the first result; applying the
first result updates the original source. Applying from a nested result updates
its immediate parent and descendants; it does not automatically apply ancestors
above that parent. Ctrl+Alt+A applies and closes that result chain.
Only one direct result child is allowed per source tab. Invoking search on a source with an existing child shows Goto Results, Apply Changes, and Start New Search. Starting over offers to apply or discard pending edits before closing the old chain.

| Enter in search | Find matching lines |
Preferences → Package Settings → subLiNe provides ReadMe, History, Settings, and Keymap. Keymap opens the default bindings and user overrides. Other installed packages may use the same shortcuts; customize them if needed. History stores up to 100 terms in settings. The search history popup shows up to 10 items, including Open History…; the full history opens in an editable tab. Editing that tab updates stored history.
An installation message opens in a new tab on first load of this release,
including manual installations. Set "show_install_message": false in user
settings to disable it. messages.json also declares the Package Control
installation message.
Source/result links are held in memory. Closing and restoring Sublime Text, or reloading the plugin, loses those links. Restored result tabs are orphaned; their contents may remain, but they cannot apply to their former source. Do not rely on restored tabs as a resumable editing session.
To recover an orphaned result:
- Preserve its edited contents before closing it.
- Open the original source and repeat the search with the same pattern, toggles, and selected lines, if used.
- Replace the contents of the new result tab with the orphan's contents. Preserve the number and order of matching rows.
- Apply, review the source, and save normally.
For nested results, rebuild the same parent-to-child search chain. Paste each orphan's contents into its corresponding fresh result tab, then apply deepest children first. If the source changed in a way that changes matching rows or row order, compare and merge manually instead.
Mapping uses source row numbers, not persistent IDs or a diff merge. Line count checks cannot detect moved or reordered source lines. Edits made to mapped source rows after searching can be overwritten when applying; review the dirty source warning. Result line insertion, deletion, and reordering are unsupported. Mappings are not persisted across restarts. The custom search UI uses Sublime's input panel and minihtml controls; it is not an exact native Find widget.
Extract the subLiNe edit folder into Sublime Text's Packages directory
(Preferences → Browse Packages…). Restart or allow Sublime to reload it.
The archive contains no test folder or package metadata file.
