Hi everyone! I am an independent developer who loves software development and creating open-source projects that can be useful to others. My long-term goal is to work as a software engineer at a company.
My name is Umut. I am passionate about software and truly enjoy the development process. My aim is to build software that—while perhaps not perfect—can be genuinely useful to people. For now, I am working independently.
As an independent developer, I enjoy both building software and turning those projects into products. I am also deeply committed to the open-source philosophy and primarily develop open-source software. I wanted a name that reflected this, and I settled on "OpenSoftware-World"—it just sounded pretty cool!
Note: "OpenSoftware-World" is not a company; it is simply a GitHub username and an organization I set up on the platform.
- I enjoy developing desktop applications.
- I enjoy building websites and web applications.
- I enjoy working on simple AI-related projects.
- I am very interested in Linux; I find that it streamlines my software development process and makes me feel right at home.
- I enjoy playing chess. It encourages me to think critically, helps improve my decision-making, and trains me to look at situations from different perspectives.
- I am into swimming. I believe in the idea of a "healthy mind in a healthy body," so I stay active by swimming. * I perform simple exercises at home, such as walking and various basic physical movements.
Programming languages I use in software development, the reasons why, and the libraries I work with:
- C/C++ -> Offers extensive capabilities for low-level programming and is highly effective for developing high-performance applications. (I generally rely on standard C/C++ libraries, so I don’t focus on any specific third-party libraries.)
- Python -> Features a simple, intuitive syntax that provides flexibility during programming and streamlines the application development process. (I am interested in libraries such as Flask, Tkinter, CustomTkinter, and Torch.)
- JavaScript -> I use this language when I need to add interactive, user-facing functionality to the websites I build. (I don’t currently use any specific JS libraries.)
- HTML/CSS -> I appreciate these as they form the foundation of web development and have a gentle learning curve. (I use the Bootstrap 5 CSS library, as it allows for the creation of impressive designs with great ease.)
-
Visual Studio Code -> This is where I spend the majority of my development time; it significantly simplifies my workflow—plus, it’s a matter of habit, and I genuinely enjoy its UI/UX.
-
GCC / G++ -> I use these to compile my C/C++ programs.
-
OpenCode -> Although I don’t currently use it for any active projects, I occasionally experiment with it when tinkering on my computer.
-
Ollama -> I use this for the same reason as OpenCode. ## Operating systems I use and why 🖥️
-
Linux Mint 22.3 (Zena) -> I conduct all my software development and workflows on Linux because it offers high performance, fluidity, simplicity, and ease of use for software development.
-
Windows 11 -> I use this only because of a specific program that does not run on Linux; however, I plan to stop using Windows 11 very soon.

I provide the software I create "as is," including its source code. You are solely responsible for how you use this software; I am not liable for any damages or data loss that may occur.
