Getting Started

Codex Refit is a local macOS app for cleaning up and understanding Codex state on your machine.

Normal Use

  1. Open Codex Refit.
  2. Click Scan.
  3. Review the main cards.
  4. Use Smart Optimize for conservative cleanup.
  5. Run Speed Check before and after cleanup if you want proof that the local state improved.

macOS Gatekeeper

Until the app is signed and notarized, macOS may warn that it is from an unidentified developer.

If you trust the build:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Find the Codex Refit warning.
  4. Choose Open Anyway.

Easy Mode

Easy Mode is the default. It keeps the interface focused on:

  • scan status
  • top local state buckets
  • Smart Optimize
  • Speed Check
  • plain-language Doctor advice

Hard Mode

Hard Mode reveals advanced controls and deeper Doctor details.

Use Hard Mode when you want to inspect exactly what Refit found, tune cleanup choices, or review advanced config recommendations.
