Prep for submitting this repo at cursor.com/marketplace/publish. It follows the Cursor plugin submission checklist (https://cursor.com/docs/reference/plugins#submission-checklist).

Changes

  • Logo path: .cursor-plugin/plugin.json and .cursor-plugin/marketplace.json now use "logo": "assets/logo.png" instead of the absolute raw.githubusercontent.com/.../main/... URL. Cursor resolves relative paths to a raw URL pinned to the commit SHA, and the checklist asks for a committed logo referenced by relative path. The file is the existing 1024×1024 transparent mark.

  • No "free" wording:

    • SYNTER_API_KEY variable description: "…Leave blank to run /synter:quickstart and the GA4 and onboarding tools first; paid actions need Solo ($20/mo) or credits."
    • README L55: "GA4 and onboarding tools work before you add a key; paid actions need Solo ($20/mo) or credits."
    • README L213: "Reads are always free to run." is now "Reads (lists, reports, pulls) never need spend approval."
  • Root plugin.json: it was a 26-byte symlink to .claude-plugin/plugin.json. It resolved locally, but Cursor treats a root plugin.json as an Agent Plugins 1.0.0 manifest, and the symlinked Claude manifest fails that schema: $schema must be the agent-plugins const, and displayName isn't allowed because additionalProperties: false. Symlinks also turn into plain text files on checkouts without symlink support, and some crawlers don't follow them. This PR replaces it with a real, schema-valid Agent Plugins manifest with the same name, version, description, author, and keywords as the Claude manifest. Nothing in the repo referenced the root file, and the Claude zip build and claude plugin validate use .claude-plugin/.

  • scripts/validate-manifests.js now checks that:

    • root plugin.json is a regular file, uses the Agent Plugins $schema, has only allowed keys, and its name and version match the Claude manifest
    • Cursor logo values are relative and the file exists
    • Cursor listing manifests contain no "free" wording

Run against main, it reports 6 errors. On this branch it passes.

  • README structure section and CHANGELOG [Unreleased] updated.

Verified locally

  • node scripts/validate-manifests.js passes.
  • npx @anthropic-ai/claude-code@2.1.263 plugin validate . --strict passes.

Consider (not implemented)

  • OAuth for Cursor instead of the API-key header. Cursor's mcp.json sends X-Synter-Key: ${SYNTER_API_KEY}, while the Claude .mcp.json uses browser OAuth. The hosted server already supports OAuth with DCR and PKCE, so Cursor could probably use a header-less url entry and the standard MCP OAuth flow. Reviewers may ask why a key is required. Not changed here: it's not trivial because it changes the install and variables UX and needs testing in Cursor.
  • If you'd rather not ship two manifest formats, delete root plugin.json entirely. .cursor-plugin/plugin.json is the full-featured manifest.
  • Before submitting, test locally: symlink the repo into ~/.cursor/plugins/local/synter, reload, and confirm the logo renders from the relative path.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated Cursor installation guidance to clarify that GA4 and onboarding tools can be used before adding an API key, while paid actions require Solo ($20/month) or credits.
    • Clarified that reads do not require spend approval.
  • Marketplace Updates
    • Updated the Cursor listing to use the repository’s logo and clarify pricing and credit requirements.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The root plugin manifest and Cursor manifests were updated. The validator now checks the root manifest, Cursor logo paths, and “free” wording in Cursor-facing manifests. The README and changelog describe the updated manifest details, setup information, and safety wording.

Changes

Plugin manifests and listing

Layer / File(s) Summary
Root manifest validation
plugin.json, scripts/validate-manifests.js
The validator parses the root manifest and checks its symlink status, schema URL, allowed keys, and name and version against the Claude plugin manifest when available.
Cursor manifest updates and checks
.cursor-plugin/marketplace.json, .cursor-plugin/plugin.json, scripts/validate-manifests.js
The Cursor manifests use a local logo path. The plugin description states that GA4 and onboarding tools are available before adding a key, and that paid actions require Solo or credits. The validator checks logo paths and rejects “free” wording in both Cursor manifests.
Setup, safety, and changelog text
README.md, CHANGELOG.md
The README updates Cursor setup and safety descriptions and lists the root manifest. The changelog records the manifest and listing changes and the validation checks.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 0e440

The new standalone Agent Plugins manifest points clients at an MCP configuration they must reject. Anyone installing through an Agent Plugins client gets no Synter tools. Fix the MCP configuration so it conforms to Agent Plugins 1.0.0, or drop the root manifest, before merging. The Cursor logo, listing-copy, and documentation changes are otherwise low risk.

Make the root Agent-format plugin’s MCP configuration valid.

When an Agent Plugins client loads this new manifest, it reads the root mcp.json. That file lacks the required $schema, uses unsupported type: "http", and relies on a header placeholder that Agent Plugins does not expand. The specification requires clients to disable MCP for an invalid top-level configuration, so this installation has no Synter MCP server. Make the MCP configuration compatible with both formats, or omit the root Agent-format manifest. Add this contract to scripts/validate-manifests.js; its current root-manifest checks do not catch the failure. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
