Auth on Ubuntu shouldn't default to fingerprint when MacBook lid is closed #66

Closed

Description

@alinoaimi

Description

When using my MacBook on on external monitor while the lid is closed, the default macOS behaviour is to request the password instead of fingerprint, however, inside the Ubuntu VM it's asking for the fingerprint,
I have to either wait for it to timeout so I can type the password, or open the MacBook lid and fingerprint.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create Ubuntu VM
  2. Close MacBook lid, use it via external display
  3. Open the terminal in the VM
  4. type: sudo echo "hello"

Current Behavior

It asks for the fingerprint auth

Expected Behavior

It should ask for password auth

Environment

  • App version: VMPal 0.89
  • Mac: MacBook Air M2, 8GB
  • macOS version: Golden Gate 27.0.1
  • VM's OS: Ubuntu 26.04.1 (Desktop), arm

I just notice the fingerprint button that appears in VMPal toolbar, didn't notice it previously when using the VM in full screen
