[Bug] IPv6 address shown on host but missing inside Windows 11 VM #69

Open

Description

@iambipinpaul

Description

When I open https://whatismyipaddress.com/ on my Mac host, the website shows an IPv6 address. When I open the same website inside my Windows 11 VM in VMPal, it does not show an IPv6 address.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. On the Mac host, open https://whatismyipaddress.com/ and confirm that an IPv6 address is displayed.
  2. Start the Windows 11 VM in VMPal.
  3. Inside the Windows 11 VM, open https://whatismyipaddress.com/.
  4. Compare the IPv6 result with the host.

Current Behavior

The website displays an IPv6 address on the Mac host, but no IPv6 address inside the Windows 11 VM.

Expected Behavior

The Windows 11 VM should be able to use IPv6 when the host and network support it. If IPv6 is unsupported in the VM's networking mode, please clarify that limitation.

Environment

  • App version: VMPal 0.89
  • Mac: Mac mini, M6, 24 GB RAM
  • macOS version: 27.1
  • VM's OS: Windows 11, build 26300.9711
  • VM networking mode: Shared
