About this guide

This guide will help you setting up Winget-AutoUpdate-aaS.

Upload the ADMX/ADML template

Before you can configure Winget-AutoUpdate-aaS you need to deploy the Winget-AutoUpdate-aaS ADMX templates to your Microsoft Intune envoirenment. To do this follow these instructions:

  1. Download the latest ADMX/ADML template form the Release Page.
  2. Login to the Microsoft Endpoint manager console and navigate to Devices > Configuration profiles > Import ADMX.
  3. Click the Import-Button and browse for the ADMX and ADML file downloaded in step 1.
  4. Click Next and finish the import wizard. It takes up to 2 minutes for the ADMX import to complete.
  5. Click profiles when you see that the import has finished.

You can now create a new profile for Winget-AutoUpdate-aaS by creating a profile based on the Imported Administrative templates (Preview) template.

Deploy the Winget-AutoUpdate-aaS client

Deploy as MSI using LoB app

You can deploy the Winget-AutoUpdate-Configurator by deploying the MSI file from the Release Page by using an Intune LoB- or Win32-App. How this is done can you read here: Add a Windows line-of-business app to Microsoft Intune

Deploy using the Microsoft Store (recommended)

You can also deploy the with he Microsoft Store app (new) deployment type. Simply add a new application an search for Winget-AutoUpdate-aaS. More on how to add a Microsoft Store app can you find here: Add Microsoft Store apps to Microsoft Intune

With the deployment using the Microsoft Store Winget-Autoupdate-aaS will also update itself automatically.
