Free models falsely blocked due to shared ISP IP (CGNAT) - No VPN used #57396

Closed as not planned

Description

@fahimkazi-eng

I am unable to use OpenCode's free models because my network is being blocked for "abusive traffic." However, I am on my home Wi-Fi and am not using any VPNs, proxies, or custom DNS services.

My Internet Service Provider (ISP) uses CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT), which means my public IP address is shared with hundreds of other households in my region. It appears someone else on this shared IP may have triggered the abuse filter, which has unfairly locked me out.

Details & Troubleshooting:

  • My current IP: 103.109.238.60
  • Verified absolutely no VPNs or proxy extensions are running on my machine.
  • Restarted my router (unplugged for 5+ minutes), but my ISP continues to assign the same shared IP address.

Since many users globally are behind CGNAT and cannot control their public IP, is there any alternative verification method or a way to unblock this IP so I can continue using the free models?

Thank you!

Thanks for the clear report, and sorry you've been locked out of the free models on your home network. The "abusive traffic" error comes from the OpenCode free model gateway, not the app. The gateway's abuse detection flags whole IP addresses, so on a CGNAT network that many households share, one person's traffic can end up blocking everyone on that IP. Only the team can review or lift the flag, so it can't be fixed through GitHub.

Billing and account support isn't handled in GitHub issues. Please email help@anoma.ly and include:

    • roughly when the block started
    • the exact error message
    • that your ISP uses CGNAT, so your public IP is shared and you can't change it, and that you'd like the IP reviewed

If you've already emailed, the team will get to it, especially now that we've seen it here. Please keep your IP address, email address and account details out of this public issue (you may want to edit the IP out of the description) and put them only in the email.

Other people have reported the same gateway block, for reference: #57323, #57054, #56853.

The bot will close this issue in 1 day.

We're closing this issue now. The IP flag on the free model gateway can only be reviewed by the team, and that happens by email, not on GitHub.

@fahimkazi-eng, if your network is still blocked, please email help@anoma.ly. Mention that your ISP uses CGNAT, so your public IP is shared and you can't change it, and ask for the flag to be reviewed. Please send your IP address and account details only in that email, not here. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the trouble.
