What I don't like about the bubble symbols themselves is that they have different sizes and starting from 21 the color is inverted, which might confuse users potentially implying some other meaning. This said I am not inclined to adding this feature. However, given it is configurable, I'd reconsider if you explain the motivation of having this.

I saw another version of vim-buffet with this feature so I thought I should send a pull request.
Adds variable
g:buffet_bubble_indexDefault:
When set to 1 buffers are displayed as
➊ Buffer Name ➋ Buffer Name ➌ Buffer Name ➍
instead of
1 Buffer Name 2 Buffer Name 3 Buffer Name 4 Buffer Name
This will work up to 50, which I doubt anyone will get to.
