Berat Beşli — Selected work and open notebook

I’m a developer who enjoys understanding how technology works and turning ideas into working projects. I build across application software, artificial intelligence, data and search, operating systems, robotics, and embedded computing.

Whether a project begins with a user need, a technical question, or an experiment, I like following it through from research and architecture to implementation, testing, and a usable result.

What I’m building

An experimental 32-bit x86 operating system built from the boot process upward, with virtual memory, preemptive scheduling, and isolated user processes.

C · NASM · x86 · QEMU

A polished Markdown writing app for Linux with live preview, full-text search, autosave, and local Git-backed version history.

Python · PyQt6 · UX · Git

An end-to-end port of Sabır-20M to ESP32-S3, with int4 quantization, a custom C++ inference runtime, and generation verified on physical hardware.

C++ · Python · ESP-IDF · Quantization

A local search engine with Turkish-aware text normalization, SQLite FTS5, and BM25 relevance ranking.

Python · Search · Data processing

Systems and reliability work

I also build the tools around the failure modes that are easy to miss in a demo: Faultline generates and minimizes migration counterexamples, while Remnant minimizes the persistent state needed to reproduce an existing failure. A.Y.U.S. applies the same evidence-first mindset to disaster route planning.

Also exploring: AI-assisted customer insight · large-corpus Turkish language modeling · exact-opposite weather mapping · wearable health interfaces (demo)

Skills

Area Tools & experience
Language models & NLP LLM integration, local inference, sentiment analysis, tokenization, Turkish text normalization
Application development Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, FastAPI, PyQt6, REST APIs
Data & search SQLite, FTS5, BM25, data pipelines, large-corpus processing, multiprocessing
Engineering foundations Git, Linux, testing, C/C++, systems programming, embedded development

Education & training

I’m a graduate of the inaugural cohort of DENEYAP Technology Workshops in Edirne, where I completed project-based training across:

  • Software & AI: software technologies, artificial intelligence, mobile applications, and cybersecurity
  • Robotics & electronics: robotics and coding, advanced robotics, electronic programming, and IoT
  • Design & engineering: design and production, energy technologies, materials and nanotechnology, aviation and space technologies

This experience taught me to approach problems from different angles, combine disciplines when a project calls for it, and keep moving from theory toward things that can be built, tested, and improved.

I’m open to collaborating on ambitious technical projects and open-source tools. If one of these projects interests you, feel free to start a discussion.

For the most current build, test, and release status, see the individual repository README and CI checks linked above.
