Reasons for this laid out in #546. I thought about updating the README to mention that installing the YAML extension alongside ours is a great pairing, but I imagine the average developer using VS Code probably looks for extensions for the languages they're using, and it's at the top of the list there, and I'm loath to do more copyediting of the README. We could always add it if someone asks about it.

If we disagree with #546, happy to close this out.

Yeah, I think it's fine to drop the file icons for now -- it's nice, but also, I think getting out-of-the-box YAML support is a lot more valuable. Thank you!
