👋 Hey, I'm Rasul Can Çulğatay

💻 Full Stack Developer | Backend-Focused Engineer | Game Dev Enthusiast

Computer Engineering graduate-in-progress with hands-on experience building production-grade backend systems and full-stack applications. Worked on enterprise integrations (IBM FileNet, LDAP/AD, Spring Boot) in a corporate environment, and independently designed a core-banking-style system to put DDD, event-driven design, and clean architecture into practice.

🚀 About Me

  • 💼 Worked on enterprise systems in a corporate environment with IBM FileNet, LDAP/Active Directory, and Spring Boot-based backends (RBAC, JWT auth)
  • 🏗️ Designed and built CoreBank, a core-banking-style platform (Java 21 + Spring Boot 3.x, Angular 18+, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Docker Compose), used as a hands-on lab for enterprise architecture
  • 🧩 Apply Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architecture in real projects, backed by a formal Design Patterns & Clean Code background
  • 💻 Full-stack experience across frontend, backend, and database layers, across both academic and professional projects
  • ⚙️ Core stack: Java, Spring Boot, C#, Python, Angular, TypeScript, Node.js
  • 🗄️ Comfortable across both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB) data stores
  • 🎮 Still keep one foot in game development (Unity, 2D/3D, pixel art) — where it all started
  • ☕ Believer in clean architecture, readable code, and systems that don't fall over

💻 Full Stack & Backend Projects

  • 🏦 CoreBank — core-banking-style system designed to apply enterprise architecture patterns: Java 21 + Spring Boot 3.x backend, Angular 18+ frontend, PostgreSQL + MongoDB + Redis, containerized with Docker Compose. Hybrid build process — security-critical and logic-heavy modules hand-written, boilerplate handled by an AI agent.
  • 🏢 Enterprise Integration (Corporate Project) — IBM FileNet document management, LDAP/Active Directory authentication, and Spring Boot services implementing RBAC and JWT-based auth flows.
  • 🛒 Stock Management E-Commerce Platform — Spring Boot + Angular, built for a real business use case with inventory and order flows.
  • 📊 E-Commerce Analytics Platform (CSE 214 course project) — Angular 17+, Spring Boot, MySQL, NgRx, Chart.js, with Stripe payment integration; owned the frontend, collaborated on backend and JWT auth flow design.
  • 📍 KampüsBul — campus lost & found app, iterated through three stacks (Android/Kotlin → React → React Native + Expo/Firebase) to land on the right fit.

Architecture & practices I've applied on these: Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, layered/clean architecture, RBAC + JWT auth, and classic design patterns (Factory, Strategy, Repository, Adapter, Observer, etc.) picked up through coursework and put to use in real code.

🕹️ Game Development

  • 🧩 2D pixel-art platformer built in Unity
  • 🚗 Several prototype games exploring new mechanics
  • 🎨 Focus on game feel, smooth controls, and a distinct visual style

Game dev is where I started and still something I actively enjoy — even if my current experience leans more toward full-stack/backend work.
