About

I'm a software developer with a strong background in user experience and design. I bring this background to everything I build in the software development space. Whether I'm working on the front end or the back end, I'm thinking really closely about the user and the experience that they're having.

I completed the Dev Academy Aotearoa full stack software development programme, which spans fifteen weeks. It's really intensive with a lot of hands on work, constantly focusing on projects, collaborating with people, and lots of learning on both the soft skills side and the technical skills side. We built over nine projects during my time there and I continue to work on some of these now. We covered things like front end and back end development, integrating APIs, test driven development, agile, CI/CD, and a number of AI tools that help us be great software developers. There was also a huge focus on soft skills: conflict management and prevention, giving and receiving feedback, and all the skills needed to work in a high performance team.

Prior to doing software development full time, I spent a number of years teaching at Yoobee. I mentored students and taught them the ins and outs of front end development, particularly around UI and UX. I loved that experience. Being able to sit down with someone and see them have a breakthrough, doing something they couldn't do before, I've really valued that.

I'm looking to apply my mix of skills across software development, UI, UX, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration to my next role in the software development space. I'm open to working in both the front and back end - please get in touch.
