The README's demo links on main still point at the old AgoraDMV Pages address #451

Description

@willhea

What's wrong

The README's "See it in action" links send visitors to a demo address that belongs to the project's old GitHub organization.

Some background, for anyone new to this:

  • The two branches. Work lands on the develop branch. The README people see first on GitHub is the one on main.
  • What the links point at. They lead to the example reports: static comparison reports published with GitHub Pages.
  • The org move. The repository moved from the AgoraDMV organization to civictechdc, so its Pages address changed from agoradmv.github.io/DeltaTrack/ to civictechdc.github.io/DeltaTrack/.

The current state (checked 2026-10-05):

History

When this was filed, the link failed for a different reason. The published reports had old filenames, because Pages hadn't republished since examples/ was regenerated. The 2026-08-11 promotion (#603) fixed that. The org move then broke the link again in a new way.

Why it matters

"See it in action" is the first thing a visitor clicks. Whether the old address still resolves is unverified, so a visitor may hit a 404 or an outdated page.

Done when

  • After the next promotion, every "See it in action" link in the README on main resolves and shows the reports currently in examples/.

Nothing needs to change in code. This closes as part of #555.

Scope

  • In scope: confirming the links after promotion.
  • Out of scope: an automatic check that the published reports match the committed ones. This issue originally suggested one, as a scheduled workflow, since it needs network access. If that's wanted, it should be its own issue.

Where to start

  • The README's "See it in action" line, on both main and develop.
  • docs/release.md, step 5 (verify both public surfaces after a promotion).
