What changes for the user

Before: the only way to start a release was to push a version tag, which needs git on a computer.

After: on the Actions tab, open Release, press Run workflow and type a version such as v1.0.0. It builds the same draft release as a tag push would. Publishing that draft creates the tag on the commit that was built.

How

Adds a workflow_dispatch trigger with a tag input. The tag comes from the input or from the pushed tag (TAG env), and the draft release is created with --target <built commit> instead of --verify-tag, since the tag may not exist yet. A tag push still works as before.

Testing

  • Workflow YAML parses
  • Windows CI run is green
  • Hardware checklist updated if behaviour on real devices changed (not applicable)

Generated by Claude Code

Adds a workflow_dispatch trigger with a version input, so a release can
be made without pushing a tag first. The draft release targets the
commit that was built, and publishing it creates the tag there.
