What changes

OSV-Scanner, two workflows.

  • osv-pull-request.yml - scans the branch a pull request merges into and the merge itself, and fails on anything the second has that the first does not. Only what the pull request adds blocks it. contents: read only, the checkout keeps no token.
  • osv-weekly.yml - every Monday 05:17 UTC (and by hand), scans main and uploads the results to the Security tab. The run is red while anything is found. A clean upload closes the alerts of the week before. security-events: write on that one job.
  • Go call analysis is switched off (--no-call-analysis=go): it compiles the tree, which needs the build tags and the window toolkit's C headers, and the scanner's image has neither. Reachability stays with the govulncheck job.

A GitHub button. Beside Donate on the four screens that have it, and a Source code card on About with the address on a line of its own. The address is the one the SBOM already carried (legal.Repository), not a second copy.

Dependencies.

  • fyne.io/fyne/v2 2.8.1 -> 2.8.2, which takes oksvg, glfw and go-text/typesetting with it. Licence files compared with the previous versions: identical. No module entered or left the graph.
  • golang.org/x/net 0.57.0 -> 0.60.0, five advisories against 0.57.0 (not reachable per govulncheck).
  • cmd/tfg links none of the moved modules, so no generated file changes.
  • Semgrep 1.178.0 -> 1.180.0, with all 66 packages it installs pinned. With the single line the scanner guessed old versions and reported eleven advisories that pip never installs. Dependabot carries the pip set as one group.
  • Fyne 2.8.2 now asks for the word "(Select one)" through its own translations, so the window supplies it in locale/toolkit.

Checked before pushing

  • OSV-Scanner 2.6.0 in Docker on this tree: 0 findings, exit 0. On main: 30 findings, exit 1.
  • The reporter in the three ways the workflows use it: main -> branch exit 0, branch -> main exit 1, weekly mode writes the SARIF with findings and without.
  • actionlint: no findings on both workflows.
  • Smallest window: 576 px before and after. Rendered at 576 px in English and Polish, the bar fits.
  • The new guards were broken by hand and went red: GitHub out of the bar, the About card removed, the gap before Add a batch removed.
  • TestDonateAndAddABatchAreNotDrawnAsAPair stopped guarding anything once GitHub stood between the two buttons. It now measures from whatever stands just before Add a batch, under a new name.
  • Cheap gates, parity, the site guard and golangci-lint on the changed packages. The two known reds are unchanged at 11 and 17.

Not checked

  • The workflows on GitHub itself. This pull request is their first run.
  • Fyne 2.8.2 was published on 2026-10-12, inside the seven day cooldown dependabot.yml keeps for new releases. Bumped now on the owner's decision.
  • The scanner's Docker image is named by tag inside the pinned action, not by digest.

Merging

This pull request changes .github/workflows/**, so it merges from the browser. After it is merged and green on main, the check new vulnerabilities (OSV) goes into the required checks of the master ruleset.

…yne 2.8.2

A pull request is blocked when OSV-Scanner finds a known vulnerability in
it that main does not already have. Main is scanned every Monday and the
results go to the Security tab of the repository.

The window gets a GitHub button beside Donate on every screen Donate
stands on, and a Source code card on About with the address written out.

Fyne goes to 2.8.2 and golang.org/x/net to 0.60.0, which clears five
advisories against 0.57.0. The command line tool links neither, so no
generated file changes. Semgrep goes to 1.180.0 with every package it
installs pinned, so the scanner reads what CI really installs.

📝 Walkthrough

The pull request adds OSV vulnerability scans for pull requests and weekly runs, adds GitHub project links to GUI screens, and updates Semgrep and Go dependency versions. It also updates related tests, screen fixtures, changelog entries, security documentation, and third-party notices.

Changes: Vulnerability scanning

Layer / File(s) Summary
Semgrep dependency grouping
.github/dependabot.yml, .github/requirements-semgrep.txt
Dependabot groups pip packages under Semgrep. The requirements file pins Semgrep 1.180.0 and its installed Python dependencies.
Pull request vulnerability comparison
.github/workflows/osv-pull-request.yml
The workflow scans the base and merge revisions, checks for missing or empty scan results after scanner failures, and reports vulnerabilities found in the merge scan but not the base scan.
Weekly scan and reporting
.github/workflows/osv-weekly.yml, SECURITY.md
A scheduled or manually triggered workflow scans the checked-out branch and uploads SARIF when the run is not cancelled and the file exists. The security documentation describes scan coverage and permissions.

GitHub project links in the GUI

Layer / File(s) Summary
Repository address and localized labels
internal/legal/spdx.go, internal/gui/text/screens.go, internal/gui/text/locale/en.json, internal/gui/text/locale/pl.json
The repository URL is exported from the legal package and used in GUI text. English and Polish entries provide labels and detail text for the source section and GitHub button.
GitHub and Donate controls
internal/gui/window/open.go, internal/gui/window/about.go, internal/gui/window/generate.go, internal/gui/window/preset.go, internal/gui/window/recipe.go, internal/gui/window/tools.go
The shared outward-button builder returns Donate and GitHub buttons. The GitHub button opens the repository URL. The About screen adds a Source card and uses a shared link-card layout for Source and Support.
Screen fixtures and GUI tests
internal/guard/testdata/screens/*.xml, internal/guard/reachability_test.go, internal/guard/supportaddress_test.go, internal/guard/railgrouping_test.go, CHANGELOG.md
Screen fixtures show the added buttons and About card. Tests check button counts, enabled state, destination, standalone repository address, and Add a batch spacing. The changelog records the GUI additions.

Dependency updates

Layer / File(s) Summary
Go dependency versions and records
go.mod, THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md, CHANGELOG.md, internal/guard/menushape_test.go, internal/gui/parts/menulook.go, internal/gui/parts/ring.go, internal/gui/text/locale/toolkit/*.json
The Go modules update Fyne to 2.8.2, related GUI modules, and golang.org/x/net to 0.60.0. The changelog and third-party notices record the updates. Comments and toolkit locale entries are also updated.

Explanation

The new GitHub button is a non-obvious external-link control. Its only label is “GitHub” (internal/gui/text/locale/en.json:127, internal/gui/window/open.go:405-406), so it does not state the action. The same button is added to four footer bars (generate.go:268, preset.go:103, recipe.go:204, tools.go:172) without a tooltip. Only the About card has explanatory text. This leaves the footer control unclear.

Resolution

Add a tooltip to every GitHub button with text such as “Opens the project page on GitHub in your browser.” Provide the equivalent Polish translation. Alternatively, use the clearer button label “Open project page” (and “Otwórz stronę projektu”) consistently.

The toolkit has been reported as BSD-3-Clause AND OFL-1.1 since before
this pull request. Its two fonts are already in the notices with the full
licence text, so OFL-1.1 joins the allowed list with that reason.

The semgrep requirements now pin every package a clean install brings, and
that put 65 new names in front of the licence gate. They run on a CI
runner and nothing ships them, the reason the actions are skipped, so that
one manifest is skipped by name. Their vulnerabilities are still checked.

- Around line 25-26: Add a concurrency group to the workflow keyed by the pull
request number and enable cancellation of in-progress runs, so newer runs
supersede older runs for the same PR.
- Around line 44-45: Update the “the branch this merges into” step to verify
that HEAD has a second parent before checking out HEAD^1; if it does not, fail
the step with a clear error instead of scanning the wrong tree. Keep the
existing checkout for two-parent merge commits.
- Around line 89-99: Update the “both scans completed” step to validate each
result file as JSON in addition to checking that it is non-empty. Mark the step
as failed for either missing, empty, or malformed `osv-old.json` and
`osv-new.json` before they reach `osv-reporter-action`.

Review comments at @.github/workflows/osv-weekly.yml:
- Around line 38-45: Update the permissions block in the workflow so the
explanations for security-events: write and actions: read appear inline on their
respective permission lines. Retain contents: read as the workflow-level
least-privilege default.
- Around line 63-69: Update the `the scan completed` gate so it rejects
malformed JSON and any `osv-results.json` whose `results` field is not an array,
in addition to rejecting missing or empty files. Keep the workflow failing
before the reporter runs when validation fails.
- Around line 83-88: Update the osv-weekly workflow to enforce its main-only
contract: add a branch guard so workflow_dispatch runs on non-main branches
neither scan nor upload SARIF results. Keep scheduled runs on main working, and
apply the guard to the workflow’s scan and upload steps.

official zizmor documentation undocumented-permissions permission comments

💡 Result:

The official zizmor docs describe **`undocumented-permissions`** as a `--pedantic` audit that flags explicit GitHub Actions `permissions` blocks without explanatory comments. It **doesn’t flag `contents: read`**, which the audit considers self-explanatory. ([docs.zizmor.sh](https://docs.zizmor.sh/audits/?utm_source=openai))

Add an inline YAML comment explaining why each other permission is needed, for example:

```yaml
permissions:
  contents: write  # Needed to create releases
  issues: write    # Needed to update issue comments
```

The docs list the audit as introduced in **v1.13.0**. ([docs.zizmor.sh](https://docs.zizmor.sh/audits/?utm_source=openai))

Document non-contents permissions inline.

The undocumented-permissions audit expects an inline explanation for explicit permissions other than contents: read. Move the existing explanations onto the permission lines.

The workflow-level contents: read is overridden for scan, but it remains a least-privilege default for future jobs. Retain it.

Update the permissions block in the workflow so the explanations for
security-events: write and actions: read appear inline on their respective
permission lines. Retain contents: read as the workflow-level least-privilege
default.

Not changed. This repository explains a permission in a comment above the line, as release.yml does for id-token and attestations, and zizmor does not run in its CI.

From the review of #181. The reporter reads a result it cannot parse as one
with no findings - thirty findings cut short came out "No issues found",
exit 0, and so did a missing file - so both workflows check every result
file before the reporter sees it, whatever the scan step returned. The
pull request scan refuses a checkout that is not a merge commit, and a
push cancels the run before it. The weekly scan runs by hand only on main.

From the review of #181. Two uploads of the same category for one commit
would otherwise go up side by side.
