What is status of 3.12.0?

Two weeks ago, a new tag "3.12.0" was added, and a build has been published to Maven Central. This release is now picked up by Dependabot as a new release.

However:

• The tag was created on a branch, not on master like previous release tags
• There is no Release created for it here on GH
• There is no release branch like there is for previous releases
• The ehcache webpages or release notes also don't mention it yet, and there doesn't seem to be any updating (PR) pending for that yet either.

So is this is a proper release, or should we ignore this?

org/ehcache/jsr107/EhcacheCachingProvider has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 61.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0 (unable to load class [org.ehcache.jsr107.EhcacheCachingProvider])

Yes — after checking the current state of the repository and Maven Central, I would treat 3.12.0 as a real published release, but with an important caveat: it does not appear to have gone through the normal Ehcache release process/documentation yet.
