feat(storage): use IS and member locks for zset score reads - #433
Grouped ZSCORE/ZMSCORE and GEO member projections take key S, blocking unrelated IX writers on the same key. Let these reads overlap writes to other member leaves.
Behavior before and after
Eligible standalone grouped member-score reads use key IS and shared locks on the requested member leaves. All requested leaves are locked before taking the common logical view, and remain locked through IO and decoding. Representation changes fall back once to key S after releasing group holds. Compact values and externally locked callers retain their existing paths.
Score reads also honor successful unmetered reservations before InitMemoryLimit, including batched lookups. Failed member-lock plan admissions increment oom_rejected_commands.
Implementation
Route members using the resident prefix directory, deduplicate and sort leaf identities, acquire their shared locks, then validate the representation before capturing the read view. Read scores from the member index without loading ordered pages. Validate vector capacity only when the reservation accounts for bytes.
Design decisions and alternatives
Use the existing group lock table and retain earlier holds while waiting for later leaves in identity order. This provides one common view without retrying the lock set under contention. The fallback preserves the existing whole-key path for unsupported callers and representation changes.
Documentation and comments
Updated the transaction-coordination and grouped-collections architecture documents to describe IS member reads. Code comments explain the common-view boundary, lock lifetime and zero-byte unmetered reservation semantics. Function documentation covers borrowed input lifetimes, key/group lock preconditions, fallback and error results, and the regression fixtures' process and synchronization requirements.
The new unmetered-read and OOM-accounting regressions both failed before the fixes. The deterministic multi-leaf test verifies that a reader holds an earlier leaf while waiting for a later writer, blocking another writer until the read finishes. It also checks duplicate projection and final scores.
All 23 selected tests passed, including the three new regressions, group lock arbitration, prepared publication, member-score/GEO/EXEC behavior, recovery and native replication:
Formatting passed. The documentation follow-up changes comments only; implementation and test logic are unchanged, so the runtime tests above were not repeated for that follow-up. Its staged-file checks passed:

Risk assessment
The main risks are lock lifetime across suspension, common-view consistency and memory-admission accounting; focused tests exercise these boundaries. Durable formats, replication commands and wire replies are unchanged.
Rollback plan
Revert this PR to restore key-S member reads. No storage migration is required.
Reviewer guide
Start with ExecuteSortedSet admission and TryConcurrentSortedSetRead, then ReadGroupedSortedSetScores. The storage write-buffer fixture exercises deterministic contention and memory admission; grouped ordered-write E2Es cover command and recovery behavior. This PR is based directly on main; commit batching was merged separately in #432.
Follow-up work
The stacked PRs #434–#441 extend intent locking to other operations and include this fix. They remain independently reviewable against their immediate bases.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Sorted-set score and geographic member queries can now access independent members concurrently, reducing contention when other members are being read or updated.
Multi-member queries retain a consistent view while retrieving results, and safely fall back to whole-key reads when needed.
Bug Fixes
Score reads now work when memory usage is unmetered, while continuing to respect configured memory limits.
Documentation
Updated architecture guidance to describe the new locking behavior for member-level reads.
Eligible standalone Sorted Set score reads now use shared intent and locks on requested member groups. The read path validates the grouped view and falls back to whole-key shared locking when needed. New tests cover lock contention, common-view behavior, and memory admission.

Summary
Read lock contract and dispatch docs/architecture/03-transaction-coordination.md, docs/architecture/09-grouped-collections.md, src/storage/engine/impl.h, src/storage/engine/sorted_set_api.cpp
The declarations and architecture docs describe the lock contract for eligible member-score reads. Command dispatch tries the concurrent read path under shared intent, then reacquires a whole-key shared lock if the attempt requests fallback.
Member-group read and fallback validation src/storage/engine/grouped/zset.cpp
The concurrent read path locks requested member groups, validates the grouped view, and reads scores. Grouped score loading supports caller-held group locks and unmetered reservations.
Concurrency and memory-admission tests tests/grouped/zset_write_e2e_test.cpp, tests/storage_write_buffer_test.cpp
Tests cover disjoint and conflicting leaf access, common-view behavior, unmetered reads, memory-admission rejection, score projections, and recovered state.

Standalone sorted-set score reads now take shared locks on only the requested member groups, so unrelated writers no longer block them. No concrete merge-blocking defect remains in the reviewed changes. The documentation and rejection-accounting concerns raised earlier are addressed.
