Ⅰ. Describe what this PR does

Migrates pkg/utils/kubeclient/exec_test.go from testify to ginkgo/gomega as a PoC for issue #5322.

Ⅱ. Does this pull request fix one issue?

Partially addresses #5322

Ⅲ. List the added test cases (unit test/integration test) if any, please explain if no tests are needed.

No new tests added. All existing tests migrated to ginkgo/gomega with same coverage.

Ⅳ. Describe how to verify it

Run go test -v ./pkg/utils/kubeclient - all 122 tests should pass.

Ⅴ. Special notes for reviews

This is a PoC to validate the migration approach. If this looks good, I can continue migrating other test files incrementally.

Summary of Changes

Hello @Ayush-Patel-56, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request initiates the migration of the project's testing infrastructure by converting a specific test file from the testify framework to ginkgo/gomega. This change serves as a foundational step to evaluate the new testing framework's suitability and workflow for broader adoption across the codebase, aiming to standardize and potentially enhance the testing experience without altering the functional behavior of the tested code.

Highlights

  • Test Framework Migration: Migrated the exec_test.go file from the testify testing framework to ginkgo/gomega as a Proof of Concept (PoC) for a larger initiative.
  • Test Structure Refactoring: Refactored all existing tests within exec_test.go to align with the ginkgo Describe, Context, and It block structure, utilizing gomega matchers for assertions.
  • No New Test Coverage: Ensured that the migration maintained the same test coverage as the original testify tests, with no new test cases introduced or removed.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Changelog
  • pkg/utils/kubeclient/exec_test.go
    • Removed testing and strings imports.
    • Added ginkgo/v2 and gomega imports.
    • Rewrote all TestXxx functions into ginkgo Describe, Context, and It blocks.
    • Replaced testify assertions with gomega matchers (e.g., Expect(err).To(HaveOccurred())).
    • Adapted gomonkey patching logic to ginkgo's BeforeEach and AfterEach hooks.
Activity
  • The pull request was created as a Proof of Concept (PoC) to validate the migration approach for testing frameworks.
  • The author explicitly requested special notes for reviews, indicating this is an initial step for a larger migration.

Hi @Ayush-Patel-56. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a fluid-cloudnative member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.

Code Review

This pull request migrates the tests in exec_test.go from the standard testing package and testify to ginkgo and gomega. The migration is well-executed, improving the test structure by breaking down large test cases into smaller, more descriptive It blocks. The use of ginkgo features like BeforeEach, AfterEach, and GinkgoRecover is appropriate. I have one suggestion to improve test robustness by replacing a time.Sleep with gomega.Eventually to avoid potential flakiness.
