The compiler's release suite exports GEA_COMPILER_CLI and GEA_COMPILER_RUNTIME so core's tests exercise the candidate compiler, and most of the run-*.sh scripts read them. Four did not, and resolved ../compiler beside the core checkout instead:

  • run-canvas-numeric-triangles.sh passed -I$ROOT/../compiler/src/targets/cpp/runtime.
  • run-compiled-audio-worklet.sh loaded typescript through ../compiler/package.json and ran ../compiler/dist/cli.js twice.
  • run-native-typed-websocket-retirement.sh set COMPILER_ROOT from ../compiler.
  • run-reactive-list-position.sh tested for ../compiler/.../gea_runtime.h and printed SKIP without it.

Each now reads the variable the suite exports and keeps the sibling as the fallback, like the other scripts. Verified from a worktree with no compiler beside it, with the variables pointing at a compiler checkout elsewhere: all four pass.

  • geastack/compiler (the release-suite sibling-paths PR, opened with this one) does the same for the compiler's three tests that resolve ../core.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Improved native and compiled test scripts to support compiler and runtime locations configured through environment variables.
    • Preserved fallback behavior for local repository paths.
    • Updated reactive-list testing to skip cleanly when the required runtime header is unavailable.
    • Maintained existing test behavior while improving compatibility with external compiler installations.

📝 Walkthrough

Core test scripts now support configurable compiler CLI and runtime paths through environment variables, while retaining local fallback paths. The reactive-list test uses the resolved runtime directory for header lookup and compilation.

Changes: Core test path configuration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Compiler CLI path overrides
packages/core/test/run-compiled-audio-worklet.sh, packages/core/test/run-native-typed-websocket-retirement.sh
The audio worklet and websocket retirement test scripts use GEA_COMPILER_CLI to resolve compiler paths, with local fallback paths.
Runtime include path overrides
packages/core/test/run-canvas-numeric-triangles.sh, packages/core/test/run-reactive-list-position.sh, packages/core/test/test_reactive_list_position_main.cpp
The native tests use GEA_COMPILER_RUNTIME when set. The reactive-list test passes the resolved runtime directory as an include path and includes gea_runtime.h.

A misconfigured runtime path still skips with misleading guidance, making test setup failures harder to diagnose.
